I LOVED the croissants...they are Devine. Dinner was fine, but the menu is limited. For a small establishment I got to understand why the dinner menu was so limited in choice.

The challet is very cosy and confortable. The place is amazing between the trees and right in front of the sea. We like the braai facility provided and the kitchen was well equipped. Free parking was provided next to our challet. When the tide is low, it is a great long walk on the beach.

We booked a short holiday getaway for my mother and her husband, and they loved their stay at the Knysna Belle. They enjoyed all the activities offered, and we loved receiving photo updates of their kayak and cycling adventures or restful lounges by the pool. We stayed here in mid November 2024 after searching Google Maps for cheap B&B accommodation. We came to Orange Inn with low expectations but were amazed to find a sparkling, almost-new, modern hotel with (I think) five or six rooms. Our room (Falcon) was fully outfitted, and even had a safe in the closet. In most places we stayed, we couldn't get the TV to work but here, the TV not only worked but included a good selection of global channels (so most overseas visitors can keep up to date with events back home). The staff (a manager and two girls) couldn't be faulted for their friendly approach and helpfulness, and I'd like to give Rose a mention in particular — her warm smile and gentle humour made us feel welcome immediately. Breakfast was excellent, and with a wide variety. I recommend the omelette, while my wife was delighted to be offered poached eggs. Well done, girls! You looked after us beautifully and we were sorry to have to move on.

It was our third time at the Candlewood Lodge and it was great as always. Matthias is an excellent host, the breakfast is amazing, the location is very convenient, the rooms are excellent and there is a well-stocked wine fridge in the kitchen! What more could you want?

    We had a lovely room with a balcony which overlooked the lagoon and Knysna Head, the view was stunning. The hosts were very attentive and informative and even invited us to a small concert with food and drinks included. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and the chef managed to cook my scrambled egg to perfection, which is quite an achievement, we have stayed at many establishments over the course of our holiday, mostly five star, but only Candlewood and on other got the eggs right.

    Fabulous in every single aspect. Historic house perfectly maintained. Hostess was so friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. Attention to detail flawless, right down to a roaring fire in the dining room the morning we left and the weather was cold and wet. Food excellent, room luxurious, views from terrace outstanding. This place goes beyond 5 star, there is nowhere else I would stay in Knysna.
