Our experience ar Ryokan Asunaro was exquisite. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted kindly and helped with our bags. Everything was explained clearly and we even got to choose our own kimono’s to wear inside the Ryokan during our stay! The room was spacious, very clean and nice and warm. The tatami beds were very comfortable to our surprise (first experience with them) and we enjoyed the onsens as well (seperate for men and women). The Ryokan itself was so cosy, it felt like walking into a home. When checking out, we were also helped with shipping our bags to our final destination, which helped a lot. Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. All guest rooms are fitted with wooden furnishings, providing a perfect haven for relaxation. The property offers free pick-up shuttles from Hirayu Onsen bus stop, a 3-mintue ride away. We had a room with a private onsen and there’s also an open air private onsen in the resort. It was so completely relaxing, the whole place is so clean and the staff were amazing. It was a perfect place to unwind after a busy stay in Tokyo.

There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. It’s a quiet location, which is nice. First time in years that I have slept without earplugs. Good to know: you can not bathe at the guesthouse. I was a bit scared of using the Onsen at first, but ended up loving it. The hosts are such nice people. They made my stay even better, thank you so much.

The entire stay felt like a big hug- the owner is one of the kindest people I have met in my life and went above and beyond for us. Could not recommend it more. I hope to come back one day, it was my favorite stay in Japan by far.
