The rooms were kept neat and tidy and spacious good enough for 6 of us including a child bathrooms were hygienic and well maintained with 24 hours water availability. The home stay is spacious with three bed rooms a couple of them air conditioned and one of them not with A/C . Kitchen was well equipped but for a gas stove or electric stove and will be available soon as per the host . The home stay will be more efficient if equipped with an RO water purifier. The host and their family were very friendly and caring and were supportive .

I had a wonderful stay with a warm, welcoming family! I was well taken care of throughout my visit. The room was cozy and clean, and the food was absolutely amazing. They provided plenty of information and recommendations on where to go and what to do—from a morning boat tour to kayak and bicycle rentals, plus laundry facilities, everything you need was available. Keep in mind that the homestay is a bit remote, further from the main river, but I found this to be an advantage. It allowed me to rent a kayak and explore the small canals easily. Additionally, the homestay is within walking distance from the train station—if you choose to walk, follow the road near the temple.

This place is really amazing. Deepa is a wonderful person and she and her family made my stay to a wonderful experience. We had a really nice sunset-tour with her father. The food was also very good. The room is big, cozy and clean. It was the best homestay I had so far in India!

Our 3 night stay was a highlight of our 11-day Kerala trip. The location was absolutely fabulous for having a relaxing time. There are just 2 chalets, we had a smaller one which had more than enough space for two people. Each chalet has it's own private sitting space in front where also breakfast and dinner get served. You can also order dinner from the family that is hosting you, and we wholeheartedly recommend to do so as their food is absolutely delicious. Would visit again.

We loved our 2 night stay here with Unni and his family and wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with big smiles from the whole family. Our room upstairs was spotlessly clean with comfy bed and a nice balcony to sit on. All the food is home cooked with pride and I’d recommend you find time and space for the lunch ! We ate all our meals here , you won’t find better. We did the sunrise boat tour which was beautiful and Unni arranged bike hire for us which was a great way to explore the island , walking is hot but you have a nice breeze with a bike ! Don’t miss a visit to the lovely ladies at the cotton weaving factory and the coir factory. Very hardworking ladies in small ‘sheds’ who are happy to see you and show off their skills. No payment asked but take some smaller notes as a little ‘coffee’ money is appreciated! Make a stop at the ‘Mocktail’ bar for a delicious juice. Don’t be put off by its rustic appearance! Thank you Unni and family and wishing you all the best for the future.

What a lovely family and stay. It may have been our favorite part of our week long stay in Kerala. Munroe Island allowed us to get away from the busy tourist traffic and enjoy the tranquil side of Kerala through its backwater. Vishnu and his family have created a little oasis on their property. You really don't need to do anything other than sit on the front porch and watch the peaceful day pass. Their family provided all the meals, cold beer, and even took us out on the backwaters for a sunrise tour (we were not provided the prices for the extra services in advance, but everything was reasonable. Just make sure to have extra cash). Basically we showed up and didn't have to do any planning, just relaxed and enjoyed. We spent our time walking around the quiet island, kayaking, and sitting on our idyllic front porch. The accommodations were basic, but we did not have to use the mosquito net over our bed, the fan was amazing, and the room was clean. This place is a hidden gem. It's the best way to experience the Kerala backwaters.
