If you come with a car you can access the lake and beaches easily. If you want to visit Palermo there are frequent trains from Termini - no parking nightmares in Palermo - the train station is minutes from the historic centre. Joanna helped us with the laundry with explanations about Palermo and conversations about Sicily all through the translator. The view is wonderful, the peace and quiet. When on a chilly evening outside, Joanna puts a blanket over you. And you never want to leave the place. Sicilian people are great and warm sympathizers.
