If you travel to Sri Lanka, it would be a huge loss not to spend at least a night in Haputale, at this guesthouse. This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at in our many years of traveling. The host, Saman, and his family, truly made us feel part of their family. We only stayed 2 nights, but it felt like we were staying at an old friend’s family house. They have a wonderful house overlooking the hills. The rooms are wonderful: clean, spacious, with a balcony and with some of the best views we have seen. The location is simply wonderful, in the middle of hills covered with tea plantations. The host showed us a short hike right behind the house through tea plantations, with views of forests, hills, and lakes. The guest house is perfectly located as a starting point for many of the nature attractions in the area. Saman is such an amazing host, and he will go out of his way to help you plan your stay and organize trips around to Lipton’s Seat, Horton Plains, waterfalls, or anywhere else. Our stay in Haputale was definitely a highlight of a trip, and we definitely recommend it if you’re looking to stay in a wonderful location that is a lot less touristy than Ella. This guesthouse is a place where you will feel like home, you will be surrounded by some of the best views, and where the hosts will go out of their way to help you. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling, and so were the dinners, homecooked by Saman’s family. We also highly recommend taking a cooking class at the homestay with Saman’s family. This was definitely one of our highlights, as we got to know the family, learn more about Sri Lankan cooking while preparing 5 different curries, and finally enjoy a dinner with our hosts after many hours of cooking and laughter with the family. The entire experience is worth more than what you pay for, and the family will really make your stay unforgettable. Book your stay here, you will not regret it.

We had an amazing stay in White Lotus Haputale! The room was cozy with a beautiful view, and the breakfast was incredibly delicious and fresh. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel truly welcomed — especially one staff member who went above and beyond to make our morning special. A peaceful, romantic getaway for couples. Had a blissful stay of 3 nights, which went by too quickly. On 9/Dec/2025 we travelled here from Colombo with zero issues using a private taxi. The weather was fine and road conditions were normal from Colombo to Haputale via Ratnapura, by now largely unaffected by the recent cyclone. In fact unless you were specifically looking out for signs of the event (like I was) you would be hard-pressed to even notice them. While in Haputale we got to experience the Pekoe Trail (check Facebook for latest updates from the Pekoe Trail Organization), calm walks near the guesthouse, and also a visit to the Kelliebede Tea Factory a short tuktuk ride away. But perhaps the best part of our brief stay here was the opportunity to meet and interact with the hosts, Shan and Piyumi. They were hospitable, warm, and very attentive. We also learnt a great deal about Sri Lankan culture from them, who shared with us so generously. And the food! We were served a rotating menu of vegetable curries, delicious pol roti, string hoppers, egg hoppers, and fruit. Much better than anything we have had so far on this trip. A real human experience, which is so rare in this day and age. 5 stars, and I am not typically a generous grader.

What a view. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the valley was amazing. Our 2 huge beds were comfy and facilities great. The family were english speaking and very helpful. Easy walking distance to the lovely village. Parking for tuktuk no problem.

The view was amazing and the breakfast was great. Staffs were amazing. Hotel is situated near to the railway station. Rooms was as expected.staffs were very friendly. Great location. Provided a closed parking for cars.

Amazing view from balcony overlooking tea plantations. Dinner and Breakfast are buffets which are average and have minimal food so you should go early. Room was clean. Bed comfy. Off road parking for Tuk.

Staff is friendly and kind. Room view is the main attraction for me. Calm and quiet have separate entrance. Have parking and security cctv. All good. Can order food from town or from host.
