Playa del Ritmo is 8 km from Santa Marta’s historic centre and a 10-minute drive from Simon Bolivar airport. Free private parking is possible on site. This is a hostel directly located on a beautiful beach about 15km from the historic centre of Santa Marta and approximately half way between the airport and downtown Santa Marta. My room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, efficient fan and excellent bathroom facilities. The hostel was quiet at night so I always had a good night’s sleep. The staff at the hostel was courteous and helpful and some were English speaking. The hostel included a casual beach front restaurant that served excellent meals that were fresh and delicious and included several vegetarian options. I would definitely stay here again when in the Santa Marta area.

Situated in El Zaino, 500 metres from Castilletes Beach, Zirwa Hotel Boutique - Dentro del Parque Tayrona features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Each accommodation at the 4-star hotel has mountain views and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is set 35 km from Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino. We arrived late afternoon which meant our room was ready straight away. The hotel were helpful in advance letting us of the park entrance ticket booth closing time which meant we arrived before closing time (5pm). The hotel is beautiful, the views are fantastic and the sky was clear both nights we were there which meant we could stargaze from our terrace. It was super quiet and peaceful. Right by one of the main entrances to the park, easy to find and very easy to start our hike into the park early in the morning. They have a pingpong table and board games in the dining room which were fun to play in the evenings too. We will be back!

We stayed a week at this small family run hostel 5km up the hill from Minca. The views are incredible. Many birds, including Toucans, can be viewed from the terrace. Our room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom a bit of a squeeze. Very homely. Very tranquil. Jose and his family are extremely friendly and helpful and made our visit memorable. The meals are simple and varied. If you’re fit and enthusiastic there are several good trails further into the hills. The small pool is welcome after a hot day in the rainforest. Motorbike taxis are frequent to and from Minca. Highly recommended.
