As I have been numerous times to Makassar and also know the other Hotels which play in the same league (e.g. the 4 Star Hotels located at the seafront),. the Hyatt offers a way better, more luxurious experience for the same price. In my opinion it is by a large margin the currently best choice for a stay in Makassar.

Starting from the communication prior to arrival, all the way throughout the whole trip the hosts were amazing. The level of hospitality and care far exceeded my expectations. I was driven to the pharmacy to get medication when I was ill, I needed to rest in my room, so the hostess offered me lunch and checked in on me and when the car broke down on the way to a hike they were so apologetic and mortified about disappointing us, rather than thinking of their primary method of translation being broken that it completely melted our hearts. They of course immediately organised alternative transport. Genuine humanity and real Indonesian hospitality at its best. The facilities were lovely. The room was very spacious, ensuite bathroom, hot shower at a very reasonable price The internet even worked in my room, as I was downstairs next to the common area which it primarily covers. The food was also amazing quality, healthy and home cooked. The host, Peso, is a certified guide, clearly well known in the community, which made finding and attending funeral ceremonies comfortable without feeling like an intruder. The 3 day programme he offered covered all points of interest in the area, he also offered in depth and nuanced explanations on the local culture and took me to some places where tourists don't usually go. The scooter he used to take me around was large, new and comfortable, too. Highly recommended!

A very comfortable place to stay in Tana Toraja. Owner and staff are very helpful and engaging. Location is in quiet area of town with spacious modern room and sweeping balcony view on the 2nd floor, which has the best rooms. Good Torajan drip coffee in room. Breakfast is good with freshly made eggs, some Indonesian varieties, and good choice of fruits Restaurant menu is fairly limited but the cafe across from hotel makes excellent grilled fish There are plenty of guide service available at hotel at reasonable prices. An excellent choice for a good value hotel option.

Absolutely stay here, it was a highlight of our trip! We stayed for almost a week and had such a nice time. The room is comfortable, breakfast is wonderful, the shared bathroom is no problem as only shared with one other room. We rented a moto and had fun seeing the places recommended. Shower was hot. But the star is your host - extremely helpful and caring. He even got my partner a birthday cake for his birthday, and picked us up from the bus station! He is a guide and loves to share his knowledge

Toraja Homestay & Coffee Bunna bevindt zich in Rantepao en biedt een terras. Deze vakantiewoning heeft een tuin en gratis privéparkeren. Slapen in een tongkonan, cool! Er is er maar 1 dus geen andere gasten. Top locatie in de jungle, wel een stukje van Rante Pao maar dat vonden wij juist heerlijk. De prive badkamer achter de tongkonan is modern en netjes met een normale wc, goeie warme douche en 2 wastafels. Mama Valen regelde vanalles voor ons, vervoer, dagtour, motobike, lekker eten. Geen airco of fan maar is ook niet nodig, het koelt af. Vroeg wakker zoals overal in Indonesie vanwege honden of hanen, wel goed donker in de Tongkonan

Meyske’s house is one of a kind! And above that, Meyske (and also David!) is a fantastic host and warm person (who cooks amazing!). About the house; first of all you will be surrounded by original Toraja houses (tongkonan), the colours and decorations inside are very cosy and welcoming. The house has no windows, therefore it is always fresh and nice temperature :) your room has a klamboe against insects and the matras is nice. The breakfast and diner, which Meyske mostly makes herself, where the best food we ate during our journey through Sulawesi. The house is situated in a nice little village 15 min out of Rantepao. Beautiful surroundings, near by the mountains, and of course surrounded by the culture of the Torajan people. This culture is very very special. Meyske is also a guide who knows everything about this ancient religion. So she can guide you and give answers to all your questions. Thanks for everything!

Mama Tia is the excellent homestay and suitable for whom want to connect with locals and nature. It's a bit far from downtown but it's not a problem. The owner is an acknowlegable local guide who can suggest and manage to explore Toraja and help you to book your next trip.

James and Rian are very hospitality and caring, you will definitely feel like home. One of Must do list in Toraja will be catting with them, you can truly know new generation thoughts about their culture, quite inspiring ! And if you have any questions, they basically can give you resolutions and recommendations, so helpful ! BTW their English is high level, had good communication! Miss them already and their little cute son ❤️ The room is not luxury but very organic and clean !

Angel's Homestay Batutumonga in Rantepao biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de tuin, een tuin en een terras. Je kunt bij de homestay genieten van een Aziatisch ontbijt. We spent two nights with Angel and his family. They were perfect guides. They took us to a funeral ceremony and we learnt a lot about Toraja culture. We definitely recommend you to stay with them!
