This is honestly the coolest guesthouse I’ve ever stayed at. First of all, it’s huge. I stayed in Dorm 2 on the second floor, and the room had more than enough space for everyone’s luggage. The bunk bed was also surprisingly spacious, with a shelf for personal items and even a locker for valuables. The staff were fantastic—especially Brandon at the reception, who was incredibly helpful, communicative, and genuinely friendly. He went out of his way to make sure all my needs were met, and he was also a great person to chat with. The entire guesthouse is spotless. Everything is clean, well-organized, and equipped with all the essentials. I especially loved the creative use of the former school building: the science lab turned into a kitchen, the classrooms into dorms, and even the principal’s office! I’m definitely trying that one next time. And the gymnasium—when was the last time I hung out in a school gym? Such a nostalgic and fun experience. If you’re visiting Magome-juku and looking for a place that’s both cool and comfortable, this is the one.

A short walk to the main station and a very central location. We were able to fortunately check in 1h early after a long and early journey without additional surcharge, unlike what is common with other hotels now. The yukata provided in room were very luxurious and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The room was spacious by Japanese standards. I will keep an eye out for this chain hotel’s other locations in the future.

Residence Hotel Takayama Station is goed gelegen in Takayama, en heeft een fitnesscentrum, gratis WiFi en een terras. Dit hotel met 4 sterren biedt een bagageopslagruimte. Location: right next to the station, literally. Couldn't be easier. Takayama isn't that big, so you're already within walking distance of all the main attractions and many places to eat. Facilities: my room had a more or less full size kitchen, a huge refrigerator, a washing machine and multiple trash cans. This was easily the most complete hotel room of my entire stay in Japan. There is a pretty big balcony that you can access by way of sliding doors. And there is also a sliding mosquito screen to keep out bugs. Perfect! What I like about the building: While this hotel only has 1 elevator for like 10 floors, there is an open stairway inside the building that you can use. It is not limited to emergencies only. I have gratefully made use of this when I wanted to leave the hotel but there was an entire family with suitcases waiting for the elevator. Another big plus, the hotel has a secondary entrance/exit, so you don't have to pass reception when you want to get in or out of the hotel.

Privéparkeren kan worden geregeld tegen een meerprijs.... Many things. Design is great! We booked because of the hotel design. Facilities also great. Free flow drink for evening until 11pm - beer, sake, juice, ice-cream etc. staffs are great, able to speak English very well. The location also great, able to walk to the whole Takayama city centre.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. A few minutes walking from the train station and others touristic places, the location it's so convenient. The common spaces have many Ghibli stuff as decoration, so at some point you feel like you are in a friend's home. Staff are so kind and helpful when we need anything. Bunks has curtains so we have privacy at the dormitory. There is free coffee for everyone! This is the second time I get to Takayama and I loved it as the first time and the accommodation was outstanding for me.

Oyado Koto No Yume ligt op slechts 2 minuten wandelen van het Station Takayama en biedt kamers in Japanse stijl met een kleurrijk tintje. The hosts did a lot to accommodate us and gave a very good service. We received some tea on arrival and some nice gifts upon departure and during our stay we could taste local sake and plum wine.

Some people won't like that it's 20 to 30 minutes walk from the train station, but I found walking through the neighborhood streets really great. It''s located directly next door to a large supermarket and a kitchen is also provided so you can self cater. There are also several great local neighborhood restaurants within five to 10 minutes away. The staff are very accommodating. Everything is new and the beds were very comfortable
