We can highly recommend Matsushima Koumura. We stayed 4 nights and were very satisfied with everything. The owners were very nice and welcoming, the house is beautifully decorated and the little onsen perfect. The breakfast we had was very good and tea and coffee free. Everything was also very clean. The location is quiet, yet very close to all the sights in Matsushima.

Set in Ishinomaki, within 37 km of Shiogama Shrine and 49 km of Sendai City Community Support Center, Tama Hotel offers accommodation with a restaurant and as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Featuring free bikes, the 2-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The hotel has family rooms. We stayed a night in Ishinomaki in order to tour Cat Island on the following morning. We arrived by train at around 4 pm and it was a pretty easy walk to the hotel. The family room on the first floor was huge - the kids especially loved the massage chair! The manager is a wonderful host and he gave us a tour of the facilities and all the information about the cat island ferry the following morning, including the weather conditions. He also helped our cat-crazy kids hold and feed some of the hotel's feline residents. The hotel has a cat room for those who want to play with cats and/or join for cat dinner time. Best of all, our host drove us to the ferry, helped us pick up some delicious pastries on the way, and then picked us up (with our luggage!) after the ferry to take us directly to the train for our next stop - an AMAZING service. Without their help I don't think we would have caught our train! I absolutely recommend Tama Hotel for anyone who loves cats and/or wants to explore Cat Island and Ishinomaki.

Amazing value, really great location and a very helpful operator who was full of handy recommendations for the area and super welcoming.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Guests can enjoy the on-site private dining room. Free private parking is available on site. The staff were incredibly accommodating, their care and attention made our visit relaxed and joyful, the Kaiseki was excellent and well balanced, showcasing local delicacies and providing an excellent view into tradition. Being able to use the Onsen with a tattoo and not having to cover it up was a pleasant surprise, the Onsen was excellent and very clean (I only used the outside pool). We were picked up by their free shuttle bus at the Shinkansen station and dropped off as well. We have to thank all of the staff, but a special mention should be given to Meguro, who took great care of us.

The views are one of the best I’ve ever seen! The onsen views are breathtaking. We also booked the private bath and it was perfect! We only had traditional breakfast and it was divine. We loved every minute of our stay here! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
