Surrounded by a park and the valley of the Venta River, the Boutique Hotel Virkas muiža occupies a historic German mansion in a very quiet location, a 20-minute walk from the famous waterfall and the centre of Kuldiga.

Next to the Boutique Hotel Virkas muiža, there is a parking lot and places to have a picnic, and a conference room. Staff was very attentive and always ready to make our stay enjoyable and worry-free. Beginning with the receptionist who cheerfully greeted us upon entering and escorted us through the hotel to familiarize us with the hotel features and amenities and then led us to our room. A second receptionist warmly translated my parking citation (expensive 40€ lesson in parking sign interpretation) so that I could grudgingly but quickly pay the penalty online with a wire transfer from my US bank. The room was fantastic, large, well appointed, comfortable sofa, comfortable bed, coffee and tea, and well laid out bathroom. Loved it. The breakfast featured scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, various breads and pastries, fresh vegetables, cheeses, porridge, coffee and a wide choice of teas. Breakfast room staff was quickly clearing tables and keeping the buffet well stocked.
