The host Carlos is the nicest person ever. He gave us a lot of information about the area and activities around. Staying in Machalilla is a perfect option if you want to visit Playa de Los Frailes, Isla de la Plata or Agua Blanca etc. Rooms are really simple but staying there you also help the work Carlos does with the corals and the whole community.

The staff was wonderful! We were traveling with a small dog. We had to leave him while whle watching and let them know. They had someone walk the dog and make sure it had food and water. our dog has seperation anxiety and started barking. The staff took him to the lobby to keep him company and all of them played with him while keeping other guest from being annoyed.

We asked if it was possible to be in a room with good internet, since we both work online. The next day they upgraded us to a better room with the best internet we had in the whole Ecuador. We could book tours at the accommodation and the staff was lovely and was always there for everything we need! They offered a really nice complete breakfast to start the day full of energy 💛 we will come back for sure in the future!

Meeting Carlos is like coming back to your birthplace and embracing your old friend. He's a great person with an enormous heart, strong life values and good sense of humor. This great man is a soul of this place, his wonderful dogs are its mood and warmth. Nothing else matters, when you see his smile, his relationships with the dogs, listen to his stories about nature and see how his love for life leads him to great purposes.

Owner is friendly and he speaks english - so rare in Ecuador. His dogs are very friendly too, you can see the good owner. There was many dogs of other owners in the village, not so friendly at all. Good location as a starting point everywhere in a beautifull Machallila reserve, but maybe to close to Spondilus route, which is now more road than route.

We had a wonderful time in Guesthouse Machalilla! It's very close to beautiful Los Frailes beach and there is a lot of activities to do around the area. The owner, Carlos, was lovely, gave many useful and interesting tips and had the cutest rescued dogs. We really enjoyed spending time with him! Would recommend 100%!! Thank you so much
