We loved the relaxing gardens and the the very close proximity to the villages restaurants and shops. The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful and booked a trip on the mailboat for me. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

We couldn’t believe our luck walking up the stairs to see the house and view for the first time! Firkins Retreat is truly a retreat. Great amenities including a full kitchen and outdoor spa (which has a great view while you’re in it!) and we were amazed at how well considered and private it is. Brad was very responsive and friendly too. Would definitely stay here again!

Definitely the best hostel in NZ. It's unique, you feel home and cosy. The owners are great and helpful. The decorations and the furniture are just amazing. The kitchen and showers work efficiently.

Owners Margaret & Bill were very friendly and helpful. Huge room , comfortable bed, walking distance to centre. Excellent breakfast
