For us and the kids this was the highlight of our visit. He also arranged the transportation to our next destination. The house is located just outside the bustling town centre, which is only a 10 minute walk, and the roof terrace has great views over the surroundings.

What to say about El Picnic!! We have nothing but amazing things to say! From the minute we arrived we were made to feel like part of this beautifully run family business. We had a stunning glamping pod which had a view of the lake and the volcanoes which you just never got tired of with its ever changing colours with the weather and time of day! Who needs a TV with that kind of view! The food was unbelievably good we ate breakfast which was included but also dinner which was cooked by the owner Johan. He also makes a very delicious rum based old fashioned which was the perfect night cap! Gabi his wife is the most welcoming person whose laugh is infectious. She was so kind and generous with her time and local suggestions which were all wonderful. She also booked our bus tickets online in Spanish when I couldn’t do it! We have never been so well looked after. El Picnic should be your only choice in stunning Lake Atitlan.

Hotel Atitlan, located in front of Lake Atitlán, is a rustic-style property offering extensive gardens and panoramic views of Atitlan Lake. It has an outdoor pool, hot tub, and a botanical garden. It was the most beautiful hotel, the gardens are truly magical. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, it was an expensive luxury to eat there. The staff were lovely and the room spacious and comfortable with beautiful balcony views

The house is a true gem by the lake — simple, yet it has everything you need. There’s hot water in the bathroom, a fridge and stove in the kitchen, plus a coffee maker and, of course, coffee. The location is peaceful and perfect for nature lovers. The highlight of the house is definitely the balcony with a hammock, where you can relax and enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the lake. The host was incredibly kind and helpful — he even helped carry my luggage to the house. Sunrise Lago Atitlán is about a 5–10 minute walk from the San Pablo dock. It’s definitely easier if you’re traveling with a backpack rather than a suitcase, as the path isn’t ideal for wheeled luggage. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature!
