Clearly the best stay we had in Iceland. This is a truly lovely house where you immediately feel part of a family. We were delighted by the warm reception and the cozy, homely atmosphere. The location by the lake is stunning, offering beautiful views. In summer there are many midges, which can be a bit annoying, but that’s the trade-off for such a scenic lakeside setting.
The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped—you’ll find everything you need, and even some thoughtful extras like coffee and pasta left for guests. It really felt like staying at our grandparents’ home, full of comfort and warmth.
A very strong recommendation, especially if you are traveling as a family. We absolutely loved it.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was wonderful. Plenty of shared bathrooms. Excellent breakfast and they went out of their way to provide gluten-free items for one of us who has celiac. Good location. National Park visitor center is across the road with a short walk through psuedo craters. Convenient to the Myvatn Nature Baths.

The location of the hotel south of Lake Myvatn but very close to the ring road and to all the attractions south of the lake is very attractive. The en suit room is of good size and very clean. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good. The area is flooded with mosquitos, but it is remarkable how the hotel inside is protected. The room window has nets, but somehow the mosquitos do not enter the reception or the restaurant, which to my recollection are not protected with nets.

We were in the right hand apartment, The apartment was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The location is great. I spoke to the host just before we left and he was helpful with places to visit.
