This is a great place, accessible by boat, usually from the Sundogs bar who will call the Lodge for you. Tortugal has a great restaurant & bar with reasonable prices & apart from a big lunch one day in Livingstone, we didn't eat anywhere else. They can also do a fantastic plate of chicken nachos for a light meal in the evening in those circumstances The room we had was a hut right on the river itself with a large bedroom, a great balcony & hammock.The bathroom however is small - but that is similar to many places in Central America. Hot water in both the shower & sink - unusual in Central America, but no shampoo supplied which is unusual Free coffee was available each morning from 6am & we would get this & just sit on our balcony & watch the river waking up before breakfast. Angela the Manager was superb, extremely helpful & great company at breakfast & dinner. They can do laundry for you & I would highly recommend this place.

The laidback calm relax atmosphere. Nice staff and great biodiversity. The food and the shared dinner. One of the better hostels we ever stayed in..just realize it's luxury but basic as you stay in a remote place in nature

Location is quite amazing, in the middle of mangrove forest just a ten minute boat ride from Rio Dulce town. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. WiFi worked very well in the bar are (Starlink). They’ve also got a lovely dog, Masha, who makes the place feel like home.

Nice staff and room! It is noisy die to the road but if you live in the city it is the same amount of noise. We were so tired from our trip from Mexico city and went straight to Rio dulce it was easy for us to fall a sleep Also pick up (collectivo/public boat) from the hotel to Livingstone and other river lodges

Beautiful and cosy wooden houses on the river with good restaurant and helpful owners. Their lancia transport to the hotel is very efficient - they pick you up on hour in public lancia port by the bridge. They have kayaks for rent and its close to row to the fort. Very nice place to enjoy the river!

The accommodation is so beautiful, so much attention is given to the plants and walking routes. We really enjoyed to walk around and even saw a wild crocodile! We also did a hike on a nature trail set out by the accommodation. The bungalow was also lovely, spacious and with airco. Great food and very friendly staff.

- Food was delicious! - Staff very helpful! They recommended El Boquerón to us which we hadn’t heard about and absolutely loved it. I left a pair of swimwear behind after checking out and they kindly sent it to Rio Dulce Travel office for me to collect. - Location. There’s lots of great hotels/hostels/eco lodges along Rio Dulce, but Tortugal was perfect because there’s access to the main road where you can then go to the hot waterfall or Boquerón and also into Rio Dulce easily.

Location was cool and rooms where nice, you are a little detached from the rest of rio dulce, when I was there the hostel was very quite. Sure it would be fun if it was bsuy and were traveling with a big group. Free kayak is great

The location is the best, a little paradise in the middle of nowhere on the river. Very relaxing. The family dinner is very good, super tasty! Def recommend to spend a few relaxing days.

Really nice mangrove jungle location close to Rio Dulce. Easy to get to with the free collection boat and very helpful owner/staff. Excellent food especially the garlic camarones :)

The owner is very friendly, the location great, they have a little pool to cool down and some hammocks to chill. The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Only the bathroom was a bit hot and humid, but it was okay. I had a great time there! :) and they also offer pancakes for breakfast!

Within five minutes of placing a call we were whisked off to this charming riverside location. Our pleasant host, welcomed us and showed us to our well appointed room. Special thanks to Angie who was really helpful. The breakfast was first class as was the service. I just wish we had the time to stay longer.

The location is absolutely wonderful. The room was gorgeous. Thatched palm leaves with open windows to hear the surrounding environment - we awoke to a river otter fishing outside the balcony one morning! The bed was really comfortable! The bathroom facilities were a little tired but fine. The food from the restaurant was good and the staff were really helpful and friendly. There was also a lovely dog :) There are kayaks to use free of charge to go to the nearby raft to swim in the river. We had an amazing stay!

Fantastic remote location, only accessible by boat. Very easy communication via WhatsApp to organize for a pick up. We stayed in what can best be described as charming jungle lodge, loved it! So much character. We also enjoyed our nature walk ... Breakfast/dinner place is very charming, lovely food and very good value for money. Helpful staff that speak English. We loved our stay. Would highly recommend it.

It’s a cool magic little spot to disconnect from noise and work. I liked the social dinner idea which makes it easier to connect with other people. The location is really beautiful and peaceful. The food is good.

The location was a perfect secluded spot in the jungle with lots of space to relax and enjoy the environment. The staff were very friendly and helpful and while you can only buy food on site, the restaurant is very affordable and delicious!
