My husband and I loved staying in Mama Root at the end of our trip in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro, safari tour, Chumbe Island) and found Mama Root to be one of the highlights of the trip. It was amazing to just relax at the hotel and read in a peaceful environment (and after more than 2 weeks of adventure, it was just what we needed). We ate every meal there and everything was delicious and they helped my husband set up a cute beachside dinner our last evening as a surprise. There are dogs on the property that are friendly and would walk with us on the beach. Overall an amazing experience! Wish we stayed longer and hope to come back again.

From the very first moment we entered the hotel, we felt completely at ease and genuinely welcomed. Every single wish and need was taken care of with warmth and attention to detail. Special thanks go to Chef Ally, a truly world-class chef who created outstanding dishes every single day. His food was simply incredible, and we already miss his exceptional cuisine! Beyond that, he always came to us personally with great recommendations and heartfelt conversations. The entire service team deserves praise – especially Ali, Akim, Miriam, Roman and Joyce who were always there for us with a smile, impeccable service, and wonderful, friendly energy. They made every moment feel special. Also, a huge thank you to the reception team, particularly Fatima, Mary, Asye and Mohammad, who helped us with absolutely everything – from taking photos to organizing activities and even assisting us when we forgot mosquito repellent. The General Manager, Arjun Kumar also deserves special recognition for running this place with such passion and professionalism. It’s clear that his leadership sets the tone for the entire team – everything runs smoothly, and you can truly feel that everyone enjoys what they do. The hotel itself is beautifully designed with so much taste and attention to detail. It truly leaves nothing to be desired. We felt incredibly comfortable throughout our entire stay and can only highly recommend this place to anyone looking for warmth, hospitality, and excellence in every detail.

We stayed at the best place in Kizimkazi village! Yasmin was amazing – she took care of everything for us, from organizing tours to making sure we didn’t miss the whales. It’s definitely worth asking her about anything you need. The house is cozy and pampering. In the mornings, we ordered delicious breakfast from Yasmin’s restaurant. We felt completely safe – there’s a guard on-site 24/7. The house is surrounded by forest, and the moment you enter the path leading to it, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. No doubt we’ll be coming back at the end of our trip. Thanks to the whole team – and big thanks to Mama Yasmin!

Asante sana for a wonderful holiday. You were realy great hosts! The pictures show the true location and environment - it is beautiful. And there is a wonderful night sky, with stars and milkyway you can't see in Europe. Good mosquito net.

A beautiful beach front lodge in the fishing village of Kizimkazi. Perfect for a quiet getaway. The staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make you comfortable. For its remote location the facilities such as food, accomodation, internet and hot water in the shower were surprisingly good.

I liked everything about the property.The rooms were very nice spacious and clean .Beautiful pool and nice beach area.Also food and drinks were of good quality(superb)The hotel is directly on the beach ,The staff were welcoming and the service was extraordinary. Beautiful sanctuary in a remote location, far off from mass tourism. The setup, the garden, the pool and beach is amazing, the views breathtaking, the food very delicious, the staff is friendly and the facilities were great. We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. During low season there are not many people around and you almost have the whole beach to yourself

Just an amazing room with an amazing view. The property is a little bit far away from the cities (but you can find a lot of activities inside:). Location is very quiet, room was just stunning! With pool and seaview❤️❤️❤️❤️ Staff very helpful. Love this place!
