We had a fantastic stay at Birding Lodge Tangkoko, right on the edge of Tangkoko National Park. The lodge is owned and run by a local family, and they made us feel completely at home. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The Indonesian food was delicious, fresh, and a real highlight after long days out in the forest. The wildlife guides were outstanding. They know the forest inside and out. We did full-day bird tours and were able to see so many of Tangkoko’s incredible endemic birds and mammals. The guides helped us capture great views of hornbills, dwarf kingfishers, tarsiers, bear cuscus and macaques, and many other species. The accommodation was clean, the beds very comfortable, and the air-conditioning was a welcome relief after a hot day of birding and exploring. If your goal is to experience the wildlife of Tangkoko—whether general wildlife tours or full-day birding trips—we highly recommend Birding Lodge Tangkoko and Ardy’s team of guides.

Perfect little getaway house. Lovely pond outside. I realized that the location didn't really suit me, but Debora and Jeremy went all the way to help me out! There's not really any restaurants in the countryside neighborhood and Debora offered to cook more of their own dinner, which was lovely! 😍🙏 Over all I had a lovely stay!

She spoke superb English and was instrumental in securing opportunities for snorkeling trips and all the necessary equipment which was my intended focus. The neighborhood where her homestay house is located provided a true Bunaken Island village experience. Bunaken Marine Park and boat access is right in the back yard as the property is on the water.

Diving was secure and Jimmy made our experience awesome in Bunaken with a lot of turtles and rays. Grace made everything from food, our comfort in the bungalow and evening chat to an unforgettable stay! The boat crew were amazing! Took us out for an extra tour to see dolphins but unfortunately they were not to be seen. Thank you all; Grace, Jimmy, Ebing, Iwan, Robi, Miguel and Memi for an incredible stay and thanks to the owner Changli for having such a good communication before we checked in. We will never forget you!

The location on the beach is very nice and mamalis is a very good cook. The couple will help you to rent a scooter or organize snorkeling trips and there is a good diving center next door. It might be cheaper to only book one night and then extend the stay, since they charge less when it's not on this platform. Communication is through translator app and the neighbours,but it works well!

The area directly in front of the homestay is not well-suited for snorkeling due to boat traffic and currents. It's so good that I'm coming back again.

If you want to be away from city sounds and pollution, way out in the peace of the countryside among farms and mountain views — and if you are a person who enjoys the ruggedness of tent or A-frame cabin camping, then you will love Wawowow. Alvin has built this off-the-grid retreat himself, adding to it each year. He and his staff are caring and helpful. The well laid out grounds are covered in lawns and most if not all tents and cabins have small brick firepits. Alvin can provide the firewood for them. When I was there a number of people sat around these campfires at night singing and playing guitars. No sound amplification is allowed. Some people chose to stay on the grounds for several days. I used it as a jumping off place each morning to tour different parts of the Tomohon area each day., returning each evening.
