We loved everything in the lodge: the tastefully decorated and recently built Cabanas, with huge bathroom, super comfy beds and cute terrace with view on the Gocta cascade, set in a stunning well-kept garden. We could not use the natural water pool as we were in winter season, but it looked very inviting. The staff all from the local village is very friendly and they served one of the best breakfast in Perú.

This is a gorgeous, beautifully maintained villa overlooking Leymebamba with the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in over many months on the road. Its hosts are beyond generous, and more than that, great company and conversationalists. My stay at Los Viajeros was a complete pleasure which I’d highly recommend to anyone. (I’d just mention in response to a previous reviewer that the B&B contacted me while I was en route to tell me they’d meet me with a mototaxi—which they paid for—when I arrived in, and departed, town so there was no need to even think about carrying my bags up, or down, the hill.)

The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. Juan Jose is the heart of Muyakuelap. Not only does he speak Spanish, French & English, but everyone knows him - & he knows everyone. He was incredible arranging transportation; pointing out best hikes; & generously providing invaluable advice for travel & exploration. The lodging is scrupulously clean. Just about every tour guide imaginable is available. There is a lovely shared kitchen opening onto gardens & spectacular mountain views. Rooms are comfortable & well-appointed. JJ thinks of all the details, leaving guides, directions & phone numbers. There is so much to do in the area. It is worth staying longer than just to tour Keulap - & definitely worth staying longer with Juan Jose. Best yet, JJ is opening a hotel entirely of his own next year. It is located steps from the cablecar to Kuelap & will feature gardens & expansive views. Not to be missed!

The units at Ekokuelap Lodge y turismo alternativo come with a seating area. I stayed at Ekokuelap Lodge for 2 nights during my visit to Kuélap. I was pleased to know that the hosts spoke my language (French). The communication with Maud was prompt and I was provided with precious travel information before arriving and upon leaving. Upon my arrival, Maud offered to upgrade me to a more expensive room which was really appreciated as I had a long day travelling. I enjoyed the uniqueness (traditional roundhouse style) and the coziness of the room (fluffy bed cover and pillows) as well as the private bathroom. I also enjoyed Maud’s hospitality which made me feel like I was at home. Finally as I have dietary restrictions, I appreciated Maud’s flexibility while preparing my breakfast and also for accepting to let me do some food prep in her kitchen. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and homey stay away from home, while visiting this beautiful region of Peru!

The staff is kind and helpful. The owner Manuel also speaks perfect English.
