The accommodation is spacious in a heritage building with a very nice communal space, and super quiet, with everything you need. Our host Angela was super friendly and helpful, and recommended really nice places to eat nearby. The Calitz advertises as "cheap accommodation jn Calitzdorp" so I didn't have too high expectations, but frankly it was way way better than I would've thought, and would totally recommend it. Nearby restaurant and small bar at walking distance was really good too

This was an excellent stay. Food was prepared with so much love and great effort. It was very tasty and did not take long at all. The breakfast was just as nice and Lesley accommodated us by allowing us to have breakfast before 8am as advertised. Our room was spacious, clean an cozy. The big shower was a treat.

It is easy to give a good review when things go perfectly, but it is when things don't go smoothly and the property owner makes an exceptional effort to put things right, that reviews really matter. I turned up to my booking to find the property unattended. Short of time, I booked somewhere else. Booking.com doesn't allow immediate cancellation, even though it is obvious that no one needs two different stays on the same night! The owner was very communicative and understanding and worked hard to help process the refund. To me, this is the mark of an exceptional and responsible property owner. This was not our first time in South Africa and we were very happy to stay at a working farm in historical houses. Excellent base for getting to know Little Karoo, Swartberg Pass, Oudtshoorn. Dinner packages highly recommended! Very nice host.

Situated on the oldest working Ostrich farm in the Cape Colony, Rietfontein Ostrich Palace was established in 1897. It features private ostrich tours, a curio shop and outdoor swimming pool.

Like stepping back into a more genteel world. The room was exquisite with fresh flowers and antiques - I’ve never had sheets of such quality in my life before. The food was absolutely top notch fine dining, four courses including fresh asparagus in a delicate sauce and fillet done to your specifications. Breakfast also 5 stars. Service all incredible. Treat yourselves!
