Impeccable staff - the Spanish lady in the reception especially was amazing! Breakfast selection was nice and fresh! Location was close to everything, a Tesco right in front, bike rental shop, cute little stores, etc. Quaint rooms - lovely view of the town! Facilities - the outdoor hot tub was great!

The Old Vicarage is gelegen in Ambleside, op 10 km van De Wereld van Beatrix Potter en 17 km van Lake Windermere. Wij verbleven hier één nacht voor ons eerste bezoek aan het Lake District. We waren erg blij met onze keuze! Het hotel is heel charmant en past qua sfeer erg goed thuis in de omgeving. Het bed was groot en comfortabel. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Vooral de locatie beviel ons zeer goed; Ambleside is een leuk plaatsje met goede toeristische voorzieningen, horeca etc. En vanaf het hotel konden we een mooie hike doen. Ook de parkeerplaats was heel fijn. Wij hebben geen gebruik gemaakt van het zwembad, dus daar kan ik niet over oordelen.

Howgill heeft uitzicht op de bergen, en biedt accommodatie met een terras en een waterkoker, op 1,7 km van De Wereld van Beatrix Potter. Totally amazing apartment. Warm, plenty of space, good location, exceptionally well supplied with towels, linen, cooking needs, you name it. This place is a jewel.

Dating back to 1854, the award-winning Holly Lodge Guest House with FREE off site health club is quietly situated in the center of Windermere. The whole building was lovely inside and out. It had a really homely feel and was very cosy especially perfect for a cold November night! Breakfast was lovely and served fast. I enjoyed the self check in aspect and the rooms were perfect. We had a lovely view and everything we needed. Perfect location for pubs and the train station was right next door.

De Quaysiders Lakes Resort - Quaysiders Club ligt aan de oever van Lake Windermere bij Waterhead, op korte loopafstand van het dorp Ambleside. Waterhead heeft diverse bars, restaurants en cafés. I absolutely love how spacious the apartment was + huge plus for the two bathrooms, one with a bathtub. The swimming pool was very pleasant and the laundry room with dryers was also very helpful.

St John's Lodge is an award-winning guest house situated between Windermere village and the Lake at Bowness Bay. We had such a wonderful stay at this lodge! The place is very cozy, spotless, and clearly well cared for. Since it’s run directly by the owners, the service feels personal and truly superb. The location is excellent—just a few minutes’ walk to both Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere town, making it very convenient. One thing that really stood out was the thoughtful touches: complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies, all refilled daily—something you don’t usually get at hotels. We booked this for our advance wedding anniversary and were greeted with a sweet little surprise, which made our stay extra special. We only paid a small amount for an additional chocolate treat, which was absolutely worth it. Breakfast was also fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from. You can really feel the love and care Rich and Ada put into running their lodge—it makes all the difference. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Lake District!
