Carlos and his family were lovely, we had a wonderfull stay in the middle of the rain forest. You have breakfast next to Toucans, Aracaris etc. And Carlos explained all flora + fauna around 👍👍👍 Great breakfast and dinner. The rooms are very clean, there is basic equipment but everything you need. Beds are very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. All the best for Carlos and his lovely family.

Everything! The owners are super nice and welcoming. The property is beautiful and well appointed. We had a room with a shared bathroom. Everything was comfortable and clean. Nice bathroom products - environmentally friendly. The food is absolutely fantastic. Best we had on our trip. Loads of variety. Very reasonably priced. Nice beach too.

Exceptional location a bit further and quieter from crazy Drake Bay. We had the bungalow with the traditional roof made of fishtail palm leaves and could just open the door to see the waves crash on the rocks just in front of it - dreamy!! Outdoor shower: nothing to top that! The food was so nice, especially the traditional Tico breakfast and the pastries omg! Staff was super kind and helpful. The best part about Jungla del Jaguar is without a doubt their guide Yasnir. Yasnir is very knowledgeable and passionate. He has also many interesting and intense stories to tell about his wildlife encounters in and out of the national park! Make sure to build up a minimum of physical condition before going on the Corcovado daytrip, it is quite a challenging hike with walking up (and down) a lot of muddy hills, and you will be walking 6 to 7 hours in hot and humid conditions! (With the awesome wildlife and forest beauty distractions, needless to say it's totally worth it).

Amazing 4-night stay at Lapa Rios, definitely one of the best hotels I've ever been to. The beautiful room, the view on the Pacifc ocean, the great food, the kindness and professionnalism of the staff, all the animals you can spot so close to you (monkeys, macau, toucans, frogs, etc.). The park of the hotel is a good before-taste of the almost nearby Corcovado national park not to be missed, with great guides

An amazing experience. A great place to stay and enjoy the wildlife of the Corcocada National park with it rich ecco system. Not a modern brick highrise hotel, but selection of private villas set in a lush hillside garden, each having a stunning view of the Pacific with the lagoon just infront. The individual villa had a large deck with a punge pool (as well as the main hotel pool), and a semi “outdoor “ bathroom to really get back to jungle nature. The sleeping area, main room has wire mesh insect netting, so no bites! Possible to sit on the deck or in the plunge pool with cute quati animals running roind, red macaws in the trees and howler monkeys calling from the forest. (pretty special ). Canoe tours round the tranquil lagoon at dawn or dusk are also a great way to see many birds and crocodiles. A tradition of a sundowner drink in the open air reception building was a memorable way to see the Pacific Ocean. This is also where the meals, that are included are served, local style food specially prepared by the hotel chef. The hosts, Greg and Keiko could not have been more helpful or hospiable, and make sure that you get to experience everything that you want to see or do during your stay. Would highly recommend. The hotel is slightly off the beaten track, even if you have a car, so make sure to work out transportation with the hotel.

We booked this room after our 3 day Corcovado trip. The room was spacious enough and it was nice to enjoy the balcony and relax there after making it back to Puerto Jiménez. The room (and hotel) is very clean and well maintained, the bed was very comfortable + hotel staff is super friendly and professional.

THIS IS A PARADISE - the one and only eco lodge right before the Corcovado national park entrance directly at the beach. this means, you save the 4 km walk from carate to enter the NP trail, you can always go down to the beach and spend sunny beach time, you will fall asleep and wake up at sea waves, birds churning. there are hanging beds everywhere to just relax and read a book. Well you will not have high-end luxury facilities, but comfort, eco-friendly, minimalistic stuff to enjoy your vacation just right. Staff is super nice, fun and helpful. they prepared us delicious food and drinks .- they are very well organized and managed, which is very impressive. you felt like this place could be short of anything at anytime, but no, you will always get supplied and hlep. there is always water, juice, coffe and tea available. We also booked our tours directly with the lodge, everything worked fine. we will miss it here

Everything was simply spectacular: the whole staff is always keen to help and make you feel at home, starting from Lana, the incredible owner of the lodge; the food is local, fresh and delicious; there is a whole range of activities that Lana organize - we even had the opportunity to participate to a Cacao ceremony that was quite an experience. You could literally spend from few days to few months in that lodge as you will always feel at home. The view of the yoga place is spectacular. Just keep in mind that the road to get there requires 4W car and a really expert driver, so if you don’t feel confident, is a good option to accept the lift from the lodge.

One of my all-time favorite places and I stayed in many hotels and lodges in more than 100 countries! This is for you if you love nature, nice food and rooms with privacy. You have a lot of the animals of the national park and have still a roof all you need. It is an unbelievable place to see amazing birds. Do not go if you need air conditioning and are afraid of animals. An amazing place to immerse with nature. We now have been 4 times and will definitely come again :-). Super well managed by the owner and the stuff is so nice and they all know what they do.

Puerto Jiménez served as a rest-over before going to, and when coming from a trip to Corcovado Nat'l Park. We were able to take and ride bikes from the hotel to restaurants and to look around (the walkway to the pier was torn up so we had to go the long way around and the bikes came in super handy). The staff was friendly and could answer all our questions.

Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience.

Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience. Highly recommend a 4WD to get here especially if it is raining. It is a 20 minute drive from Puerto Jimenez and the last section (about half a mile) can be challenging the first time around. The place is quite remote and a fun place to stay if you want to enjoy the rainforest. The cabin we stayed in was located in the rainforest on the edge of the Corcovoda NP. There is a kitchen to cook simple meals. The cabin had a refrigerator as well. You can make your own drip coffee. Meals are offered by the caretaker's family in another house downhill on the property. There is no Wifi available in the cabin but is available at the caretaker's house. Recommend having home cooked meals at the caretaker's place. Good food and friendly folks but none of them speak English. We were able to get by with very little Spanish. A guide is available on request. Guide speaks English and will come to the Ecolodge to arrange and take you on tours. We went on several tours with the local guide and were happy with the service. Saw a lot of frogs on the night walk close to the property. Overall a pleasant and out of the normal experience. If you love to stay and experience the rainforest this is the place.

A quiet, under-developed tropical destination, immersed in the rainforest. There is no town per se, just properties immersed in green. Wonderful beaches, no one around for miles. The nearest bar / restaurant is 45 min away by car on a bad road. The nearest store is in Puerto Jimenez. Patchy cell phone reception. Spectacular nature, all around: birds, butterflies, monkeys.

Puerto Jiménez is a busy little town. It is very laid back and has a slight 'Wild West' feel about it. The people we met were super friendly and helpful. There's a small airport for light aircraft and a pier where you catch public boats to various destinations. We will go back there again soon!

A gorgeous community that has retained a local Tico feel; expats and tourists are definitely in the minority. I never felt unsafe even walking alone at night. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to walk all the extensive jungle trails in Bolita and the Corcovado National Park. But, those I did walk to led me to magical waterfalls, swimming holes and amazing views. The wildlife is plentiful. I saw 3 of the 4 monkeys that live in Costa Rica and woke in the morning to the sounds of the 4th, the howlers calling in the distance. Toucans, hummingbirds and macaws are everywhere. Not to mention the incredible number of other slightly less showy birds, amphibians, reptiles and insects. Dos Brazos was an incredible find and I will definitely be back.

We had the luxury of spending nearly an entire month on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica - the first two weeks near Drake Bay and the last two weeks in Puerto Jimenez. If you have to choose one over the other, I would go with Puerto Jimenez, which has several advantages: a full grocery store if you're doing your own cooking, nicer beaches with finer sand as opposed to broken shells and sharp stones and, an airport within walking distance to the town. Both towns are safe and tourist-friendly and offer a wide variety of excursions including access to Corcavado National Park but Puerto Jimenez, with its paved streets and better restaurants is my choice.
