An amazing hotel next to the river. The room was clean and tidy. We had the number 1 room for 3 people . It was a big room with 3 windows with an amazing view (the front rooms have also a small balcony to sit outside) The breakfast was nice and the owner also suggested if one day had to leave early to prepare our breakfast for take away.

New and nicely decorated Nubian hotel. Staff (Mohamed Khebr in particular) are very friendly and make us feel welcomed. We feel safe during our stay which is a huge plus. Nice breakfast too with Nubian style claypot eggs. Location is near the town but not the closest to Abu Simbel hotel. That said, local tuktuk is always an option, and we actually find it nice to walk past the town and feel the local vibe.

The details... they take good care of all the details. We stayed at Benben for three days, and it was an unforgettable experience! The place exudes Egyptian Santorini vibes, offering a perfect retreat for those seeking disconnection. The staff truly made our stay exceptional—especially Nirvana, who went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and comfortable. All staff members were polite, genuine, and incredibly helpful, always ready to assist sincerely. The property is beautifully maintained (a rarity in Egypt), and the food was consistently delicious. The multi-level design adds charm to the place, but it’s worth noting there are some steps or ramps to navigate. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it might be challenging for those with mobility concerns. That said, they have a small tok-tok available to help with luggage or transport around the property. The boat service to the island was seamless and well-organized. We only had to give them a 10-15 minute heads-up, and the boat was always ready—free of charge 24/7. Upon our arrival, the boat was waiting for us at the marina, and the staff ensured everything was set for a smooth check-in. Overall, Benben By Dhara is a rare gem, perfect for couples. We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene getaway.

In a word, it was fascinating. On the one hand, we had the experience of accommodation in the desert and on the other hand, we had an unforgettable holiday in nubian style houses. I spent one night at Nubian Spirit, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location is absolutely stunning, with peaceful views over the Aswân Reservoir and a calm atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The Nubian-style architecture and colorful details give the place a warm and authentic charm. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made sure everything was perfect during my stay. They offered helpful tips about the area and created a friendly, relaxed environment. My room was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, reflecting the traditional Nubian spirit. I especially enjoyed the rooftop area, where I could unwind, a perfect spot for sunrise or sunset. Overall, Nubian Spirit is a wonderful choice for anyone looking to experience true Nubian hospitality in a serene and picturesque setting. Highly recommended!

We left Citymax Aswan with the best impressions. Its location is perfect, the view of the Nile is stunning and you will find everything you need (ATMs, food, the local market etc) right next to it. Ms Martina and Mr Mohammed are excellent professionals, and everyone was helpful, assisting us in everything. They made sure we have a good time and helped us navigate in Aswan. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. There's wifi everywhere. Breakfast is rich and has many options (local, vegan etc). Usually, during our journeys we prefer to eat in various places, but we gave a try to Citymax restaurant and the food was great in quality, quantity and price. Definitely recommended!

The hotel put safety to its outmost importance. The gate guard checked the taxi driver’s license . They put safety check machine at the front door to avoid any terrorist incidents. Visit the temples in the afternoon (after 03.00pm) because the is nobody (except perhaps some extroverted sceaming chinese girls - but once they are gone). Yes, it´s hotter than in the morning and the light is not prefect. but you will have the temple for yourself and you will be able to make perfect photos from inside.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing. I stayed in the houseboat for 5 days with my mother. We both feel like we gained a friend in Abdu and hope to see him again one time. He is so kind and caring! Not only did he help us arrange everything in terms of tours (to Filae, Abu Simbel, a Nubian village, the botanical garden and more) and activities (Falluca sailing, Zaraha sand meditation, bird watching trip, exploring the Souk, swimming in the Nile, transfer to Luxor via Edfu and Kom Ombo and more), he also helped us with his second smaller boat to get everywhere, get local products for local prices, assimilate to the local culture by clothing and customs, cooked for us (he also made sure all food was well washed), helped us donate goods and clothes to the local school, and assisted us in getting tickets for the night train from Luxor to Caïro, ATM withdrawals and simcards). We truly think he has a heart of gold and works with honesty not soley for money. His houseboat has everything you need for an authentic stay. Our cabin was spacious enough for the two of us and had an amazing view over the Elephantine Island. The terraces was facing the beautiful botanical garden on Kitchener Island. Due to the placement of the boat you have some shade in the morning and you can enjoy the sunset in the evening. If you look for a real experience and want to dive in the culture and day to day livestyle on the Nile, the boat is definitely something for you. We are truly greatful we’ve met Abdu and can definitely recommend a stay with him on his lovely houseboat. We hope to see him again one day!

The bed was super comfortable and the balcony view of the nile was beautiful during sunrise. Hotel can offer roundtrip shared van to Abu Simbel and they provided a packed breakfast. Location is set to more calm side of Aswan blending with the locals. ATMs are nearby as well as few restaurants and many local shops. You can also take the boat for a trip or to the other side of Aswan. Aircon and hot shower were working fine.

Aswan is less of a tourist town than Luxor or Giza, but the vibe is still there - mainly centred around the dams, Temple of Philae and short or long boat trips. However, if you stay at a guesthouse on Elephantine Island, you can find lovely hosts, good food and compelling views which together make a compelling case to spend more time here relaxing, rather than just seeing the sights.

Aswan has a very different feel to Cairo and Luxor. It operates on a much slower pace. Less hassle in the markets and on the roads. The islands, especially Elephantine Island, are wonderful and unique to visit. Try Makka Restaurant by the train station for simply excellent local food.
