There was nothing not to like. We're very fussy travellers and a bit grumpy after long drives. Mauro greeted us in the early evening and straight away offered to cook us dinner. And what a dinner it was. A tasty, tender meat dish for one of us and a gourmet vegetarian meal for the other. We were recommended the local wines which complemented the meals beautifully. The rooms were clean, warm, and the bed was as good as one can expect. The next morning, we were stunned with the view as the lake took up the whole width of the dining area. After walking around the shore of the lake and saying hello to the sheep on the property, Mauro served us a varied, tasty and wholesome breakfast before heading off. Mauro was a 1st class host always with a smile on his face and always ready to please.

I went to the Azar on my way to San Sebastián. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town, very close to the highway, and that’s why I chose it. It was a great choice: Clean, comfortable, great food, fantastic staff. I highly recommend it.

We could park our bicycles inside. Everybody was friendly. The hotel is perfect for a visit to the monfragüe biosphere reservate. and above all is the high quality food.
