The once beautiful city of Toulouse, capital of the South...
The once beautiful city of Toulouse, capital of the South West of France, is sadly no longer what it was. The whole place feels run down, dirty and the glory it once had has more than merely faded. There are plenty of visitors but the Place du Capitole, the centrepiece of the city, is was obscured by market stalls and somewhat overpriced, touristy restaurants. Parts of the city are not pleasant to be in and I would definitely not recommend a woman travelling there alone. It's still a beautiful place but it needs a damn good clean and proper policing.Guest review byPaul - 8.0
We stayed in a hotel within the walls and that was lovely (...
We stayed in a hotel within the walls and that was lovely (Auberge des Lices) and we visited the old town as well as the city. So much to see and do! This was our second visit and we were not disappointed (other than the note below). A slight caveat as one of party was disabled is that the walled City is not particularly disabled friendly. Those who stay in the other lovely hotels are afforded luggage transfer but those less fortunate with mobilty have to struggle waith bags and have to be able to walk quite a few hundred metres to get to a gate other than the main entrance which is the nearest to the Cite car parks. A golf cart type facility would I am sure assist even if there was a charge... Just saying :-)Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Castelaundry is in the heart of Cassoulet country…we had some fabulous meals in local restaurants. It is also a stepping off point for boats on the MIDI canal. You can walk or bicycle along the paths beside the canal and watch the locks operating. Great place to visit and interesting villages nearby.Guest review byVictoriaAustralia - 10.0

Tamarissiere is a perfect place from which to explore the Languedoc. There is a ferry taxi which goes back and forth across the Herault River so you can visit Grau d'Agde for shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, the several weekly markets and their beautiful beach. We used Sun7 sun beds and parasols to enjoy the weather, swim and be waited on. The Mediterranean is 'just there' for swimming, jet skiing, beach combing and more. It's a little peace of heaven on Earth.Guest review byRosemaryFrance - 10.0

A really lovely place to stay, lots of choices to eat out, supermarkets for essentials near by and great boulangeries which provided our amazing breakfasts. Take a stroll along the Canal du Midi and the surrounding areas are so pretty and lovely to see, everyone was so welcoming and happy to have us in their town. Walking around Capestang is easy, mostly flat and lots of lovely houses to see on walks around the town. Great bicycle tracks around the Canal, we shared our breakfast table with some fabulous cyclist who said it was a great area to cycle in.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Don't confuse the town of Avignonet-Lauragais (which is delightful) with Port Lauragais (which is adequate). The Relais Fasthotel is a 3km walk from the town and quite isolated. My experience of the town itself was limited, but I found it charming, warm, friendly and well worth another visit.Guest review byPhilipMalta - 2.0

over rated beach area with cheap chip shops burger joints and one or two bars that were closed Would not recommend this place to anyone expect those who like to stay on the beach all day and eat burgers and pizza at night. nothing to do in the area, no nice hotels and no nice place to eatGuest review byCaroilineIreland - 8.0
The hotel is a budget hotel as it is a motorway stop off.
The hotel is a budget hotel as it is a motorway stop off. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived really late and the night time receptionist managed to assist us to get some hot food from a delivery company for which we were really grateful. The room was basic but comfortable. However as we found with several hotels on the road we have recently stayed in they seem to be very short on towels. Now I know that everyone is trying help the environment but really I would like more than I hand towel and 1 bath towel as they don't dry by morning if used in the evening and I have long hair so I had to use my husbands towel to be able to dry my hair following my shower in the morning. The shower was not disabled friendly it was very cramped and I could only just get into the very small enclosed space. Once in however, it was a nice strong shower. Perhaps remember that those of us who are disabled need a little extra room to be at least able to turn around in as my husband has to help me to wash which was made difficult with the amount of space available. The breakfast was continental and actually really nice. I just couldn't reach anything by myself which was embarrassing as I had to ask other guests, the staff and my husband when he came down for his breakfast to help me reach things. As I am a wheelchair user I find this shouldn't be happening in this day and age. In fairness to the hotel they really were very apologetic and helped straight away but I should not have to ask. This did happen in other hotels it was not just this hotel by the way I just want to make that very clear. The Car Parking facilities were very good Overall the stay was good and we would stay again whilst travelling through France.Guest review byElizabethSpain - 8.0

Homps is a lovely French canal side village with an excellent hotel, Le Jardin d’Homps, and a number of other accommodations types available to suit all budgets. This is our 5 visit. There are a number of restaurants to choose from together with a gift shop/small general store and a wine merchant that does wine tasting events. The main shop/petrol station has recently been extended and modernised. It is very well stocked and has been run by the same friendly French family for a number of years. There is a large church in the centre of the village and a smaller church, that often hosts art exhibitions, on the way out toward Azile. It’s a 15 minute walk to the lake, or a short drive to the lakeside carpark, where there are many water activities available as well as a nice cafe.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
