Maison Albar Hotels L’Imperator

From the moment we arrived at L’Imperator Maison Albar we knew we had chosen the right hotel for our stay in Nimes. This is an EXCEPTIONAL 5-star hotel and has truly set the benchmark for luxury and hospitality. Every detail of our stay was meticulously catered to, making it a very memorable experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very warm welcome from GM Romaric Blanvillain. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and we were shown around the beautiful facilities and on to our room by the charming Rievelinio. The hotel combines class, elegance and warmth, with beautiful interior decor and clever use of space and architecture. The pool is heavenly - in fact there are two pools to choose from, an indoor pool next to the spa and an outdoor pool with plenty of sun loungers and peace and quiet. By the pool we were looked after by Quentin with an impressive level of courtesy and efficiency. Breakfast was wonderful (thanks to Natalie and Romane) and served in a calm setting, with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. What truly sets L’Imperator apart is the exceptional service provided by the team and the way they make guests feel. Many hotels try to be hospitable because that is their job, they are ‘paid to smile’, but the Albar staff are happy to be there and show genuine care for each guest- even remembering guests names when greeting them. Special mention to the Hero’s Pierre and Benjamin, who both went above and beyond in their assistance and care. And the exceptional Fabien (so speedy) Tristan and Frederic, Kaoutar, Doriane, Karla, Clara, Maxime, Imrane, Sabah and Claire. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a truly exceptional stay. We have already re-booked to stay again…it is worth visiting Nimes just to stay at L’Imperator.

Spacious, spotless rooms with excellent air conditioning — a lifesaver when it’s 35°C outside. The restaurant is delicious, and the staff is polite and attentive. The hotel is pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us, and there’s a secure private parking area. Everything was absolutely perfect!

We had the most fantastic 10-night stay at this hidden gem. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely rustic Provençal charm. Cabrières is such a sweet little village — quiet and authentic, with a handy shop just around the corner for snacks and drinks. Our family room was spacious, simple and stylish, spotlessly clean, and super comfortable. The pools were brilliant, and the restaurant food was a real treat — proper home-style French cooking every night, full of flavour and great value with the demi-pension. Breakfast was just as good, with fresh fruit, fresh juice, charcuterie, cheese, pastries, different breads ... The staff were absolutely lovely. Everything was perfect — we loved it and we’ll definitely be back!

The view from the room was absolutely stunning, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The bedroom was spacious with a large, comfortable bed and incredibly soft bedding, ensuring a great night's sleep. The soundproofing was excellent, and the heating worked perfectly, keeping us cozy throughout our stay. We liked the very harmonious mix of ancient history and modern attractions. The map provided by the tourist office with 40 interesting points of interest marked for you to wander in your own time very useful. We had drinks in many places but ate in La Vigourie and IX Louis only. Both delicious and great value. Even though one of us has a few mobility problems walking around in short bursts worked fine; the town is small enough. Sunday market was excellent for end of season summer dresses, roast chickens and figs! Walking the ramparts (in flat shoes) is probably a must, educational animations along the way are well done with sub-titles. A week is a good stay length, take a short train ride to the sea-side ports, architectural surprises like La Grande Motte and out into the Camargue flats.

Le grau du roi is a beautiful compact fishing port. It is located along a bar and cafe canal like estuary. To sit whilst sipping a cold beer, enjoying a local wine or indulging in a splendid seafood meal whilst watching the boats returning in the evening or the sun setting over the lighthouse guarded quayside is heavenly.

Interesting small city with top class Roman remains (as big as Rome - though not so widely known). It is easy to move/walk around Nimes and I recommend it as a relaxing city. The Spanish themed Feria took place while I was there - great, enjoyable and lots of revellers - not relaxing but great fun for visitors of all ages. I hope you've got the picture. Enjoyable, lots of ancient sites, but up-to date entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy. Finally, it's not a hilly city. Walkers can relax and take it at their own pace.

And tourist prices , but that is to be expected . Walking along the marches and canals was nice too . Definitely worth a visit 👍

The good: Flamingos! Miles of beaches.

The good: Flamingos! Miles of beaches. Great places to go walking. Amigoland, though expensive, is fun for kids of all ages - even those in their forties. You can rent motorboats and jetskis in town. For connections, its not far from Montpellier or Marseille. The bad: Restaurants are poor in LGdR. From French to Italian to Asian they all disappointed. Mosquitoes are tenacious all around this area due to miles and miles of open shallow water. Personal verdict: go somewhere else instead.
