Gorgeous gem of a place - medieval streets of great character with flowing streams between. The newer parts of town are handsome; there is little motor traffic and everything is well kept. Defo a safe place to be. If you enjoy cycling, Annecy is a cycling town with lots of young children, or deliveries, conveyed by bike. In this respect it’s what every town should aim for. The lake is a wonder: tall, jagged cream coloured mountains behindsun dappled water. The cycle route around it is easy and has several ‘velo cafes’ alongside to restore your energy! (The town contains numerous bike hire shops.) The lake has several swimming places (and a beach at St Jorioz). We visited in perfect weather in mid September and we were surprised at just how busy the old town had become. Definitely a honey trap kind of place.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Talloires is a very small village about 20 minutes south-east of Annecy, along the lake. There were a few little restaurants, also the one at the "beach" was down to earth and good (Pizza, sandwiches, beer etc.). We ate a few times at Cafe Gisele. Parking at the hotel was easy. What we liked most was that we could stroll around along the lake after dinner.Guest review byMicheleGermany - 10.0

Great for lake bathing, hiring bikes, lots of places to eat in Sevrier. We enjoyed the Le Bistrot du port by the lake. A local shops and patisseries as well as a Lidl supermarket if needed. Good transport links by bus into Annecy and to the south, as well as boat trips / taxi. We had no car as we travelled by train to Annecy and got an Uber to Sevrier. We hired bikes here including an electric one from Bike Store 2830 who were great and cycled half way round the lake stopping for lunch and cycling back. There is also a walking trail up the hillside with a viewpoint over the Lake. Beautiful place, we hope to return.Guest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I liked the calmness and serenity of the place but I was surprised when they have to change the chalet when they learned that we have a dog. They emphasized that supposedly dogs is not allowed. But they worked it out either way.Guest review byJoyFrance - 10.0

Menthon-Saint-Bernard is a very small town but it has a bar, restaurants, bakers and a well-stocked "local" supermarket. People very friendly! Where nearby Annecy is a beautiful, bustling city, Menthon is better for those who prefer the relative peace of the lake and mountains, yet is only a half hour drive into the city. There is also a bus service. Obviously very popular with cyclists, it is a VERY cycle-friendly place! There were lots of annoying roadworks at the time of our visit. We ate at the hotel and at the Chalet by the lake - nice, chilled pub-grub type food.Guest review byDAPHNEFrance - 10.0
We especially loved the bakery.
We especially loved the bakery. Duingt is a very pictursque French town by the lake and the mountains. Thankfully it is not overly touristic (yet) and we could appreciate the French character of the place. It seems to be good for people who like hiking though we could not do that ourselves. Our suite was in a well architected set of suites very near the water and we enjoyed a splendid view.Guest review byLeonardCanada - 10.0

Talloires is beautiful - a place to relax and admire the lake and mountains. Some fabulous restaurants and good local shops too. The pizza restaurant at the lake edge is good for families (the BEST pizza!) The Cafe de la Place is good for a real french bistro experience. The Huit a Huit supermarket provides a great selection given it's size! The Bakery (La Fournil) is fab! even the Tobac is great for sweets, postcards etc and there's also an art / vintage shop opposite the church - the owner is lovely! For a treat, Restaurant 1903 and the Pere Bise shop has some fab goodies too (try the ice creams!) The Farmer's Market on a Thursday is great.Guest review byJackieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Sévrier is well located for a stay at the lake of Annecy.
Sévrier is well located for a stay at the lake of Annecy. It has several spots with easy access to the lake (this isn't true everywhere: there are fairly long stretches of the lake that are bordered by the road). Annecy itself is very nice but traffic is quite congested in the centre. Sévrier is also a good base to visit the Col de Semnoz, les Gorges du Fier, go parapenting at Doussard and of course Annecy. We ate at the Terracotta restaurant and the Poisson Rouge at Sévrier, and enjoyed both. Also worth a visit is restaurant La Savoyarde in Talloires at the other side of the lake: the pizzas at the ground level are really good (original recipes, not heavy with cheese, great dough)!Guest review byKelchtermansBelgium - 2.0
This is probably my WORST experience through booking.com.
This is probably my WORST experience through booking.com. We paid 300 EUROS for a two night stay in April. We did not have HOT water for 24 hours! It involved me taking pictures of the electricity board and sending to the owner to fiqure out what was going on. Still have not idea on how it was fixed. After flying for many hours & then driving there, we were then told that we had to strip the bed linen and towels and put them on kitchen floor on the day of departure. Then we were told that we had to make sure all the dishes out of the dishwasher were packed away and we had to empty the dustbin on exit. The person who was there to " greet' us was extremely rude. This flat is someone's holiday home where all the crockery is old and chipped and there are old tea and coffee stains inside the cups. There is also no microwave and the old electric kettle is faulty. The ONLY plus of this place is its location. But to be honest, after having booked so many times on the website, this accomodation has NO place on booking.com.Guest review byMirandaSouth Africa
