In the hot weather the pool was perfect an the room had a fan whih worked well for a good night's sleep. The area around the hotel was God's own country. So beautiful and we felt priveleged to have been told about it as a must see by others. The boat trip from the jetty showed us even more beauty along the river. Going up to St Cirque la poppie is an easy drive and provides an excellent view of the whole region and a pretty small village to enjoy.

The view from room 16 was spectacular and the exterior wall was basically all balcony! Great room, pretty decor, comfortable, clean. Our dinner at the restaurant was really superb, and the service was efficient and friendly. Breakfast buffet was very good. And every space devoted to eating had the same amazing view! Rocamadour is a very beautiful village, however there are alot of tourists and "tourist" shops. It is worth seeing, but we left one day early to stay somewhere quieter. Loved the restaurant at the Hotel Beau Site, great presentation and wonderful wine and dessert. Walking and parking in/around Rocamadour is not for the faint of heart, there are alot of steps and steep hills. I loved the exercise, but it would be difficult for someone with limited mobility. We had a car and did not have any problem parking, but there is extensive walking/steps/hills to and from the parking lots. We walked up the steps to the Sanctuary and onward to the Chateau, but did take the elevator back down to the main village. That is an absolute "must do" if you are in Rocamadour.

Where we stayed was a restored castle.

Where we stayed was a restored castle. It was wonderful inside. The staff were very helpful. The part of town we stayed in was quaint and very walkable. I would have loved to stay longer. We ate at a small Crepery that was right around the corner. You have to be there early and make reservations. We did it online and almost didn't get in. The food was good.

Moissac is a small town with a big and important abbey.

Moissac is a small town with a big and important abbey. We loved the relaxed atmosphere (eg free parking), the covered market open in the morning with fresh produce, the restaurants and cafes in near to the abbey. We also enjoyed a free concert in the abbey itself after a downpour ended chances of an outdoor performance. We found the people friendly and helpful. There are a range of eating options and a lovely walk along the canal. Moissac is also a good place from which to explore the surrounding area including bastides, some of which are virtually tourist-free (at least when we visited).

We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull. The town appeared run down in areas with not much going for it. There were some good restaurants. The animal park is worth a visit. The aqua park didn’t have clear information about opening times. Close enough for other attractions and towns to visit. Rocamadour is close by. Plage de Gluges 15/20 minutes. Carannac Aventure for canoë and paddle board hire with a lovely crazy golf and snack bar 20 minutes.

This is the best preserved of Frances medieval towns. It is small but there is much to see. Lots to do from just wondering the streets to hiking or biking. I would highly recommend. There is even a vegan cooking school there (that I registered for) and it's pretty fantastic!

Cahors is a nice little city.

Cahors is a nice little city. There isn't much spectacular to see or do, but it kept me busy for a day. The medieval bridge is nice, the cathedral was worth a visit, and it's nice to walk next to the river that encircles the city. Keep in mind, on Sundays, nearly everything is closed. Even finding a restaurant for dinner was a struggle. I wonder if the locals even eat on a Sunday...
