Service on arrival exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The room was nice and warm which was most pleasant as it was absolutely freezing outside. Room spotless, excellent facilities such as ensuite bathroom, fridge, TV, wifi and kettle with a good beverage selection. Cooked breakfasts were huge and freshly made to order. Selection of cereals and fruit juices also available along with choice of white or brown toast. Tea and coffee also on offer but I brought my own coffee down with me. The bar is excellent and offers a large drinks selection at very good prices. The bar meals are exceptional and the helpings extremely generous. Nothing is too much bother for any of the staff. I had an issue with my room key one day and there was no problem resolving it. Great location as well with ample off road parking. This is the second time I have stayed within the space of one year and it did not disappoint. Yes, there are other hotels in Carnoustie but I cannot recommend the 19th Hole highly enough. It was like a home away from home for me and I receommend this place 100% ahead of any of the other hotels in the area. I was back in Carnoustie due my elderly father's rapidly declining health and I had initially booked for 12 nights but when my Father passed away whilst visiting, I had to request an extenstion by a couple of nights which was absolutely no problem whatsoever. I even got to remain in the same room! It was just one less thing to have to worry about whild making all the funeral arrangements. My heartfelt thanks goes to Linda and all her amazing staff. Thank you and I wish continued success to you all.

The outside of the Hotel was a bit deceiving it looked just like any other 3 star hotel BUT when you walk inside it is very very welcoming, cosy, clean, comfortable, spaceous, and beautifully decorated in traditional Scottish style. Our beds were very comfortable we all slept very well, no noise no disturbance very friendly housekeepers but what we loved the most was the breakfast and the friendly helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was more than I expected and you were full up by the time you finished, very clean very good quality food, any amount of options. The staff there could not do enough for us they worked so hard (we were at a wedding) and they still were kind and helpful right into the night having served us food early that same day I just cannot fault the staff and want to thank them for their hospitality. We loved Montrose too and we would love to come back, it's a perfect venue for a wedding, the wedding venue looked so cute and had doors that lead put onto a beautifully kept garden (Well done gardeners), the receptionist were super helpful always friendly, I highly recommend this hotel I would go as far to say it was the best hotel experience we as a family have ever had and I think it's because it's very down to earth, family orientated and non pretentious, love it.

Having been just recently very tastefully and sensitively refurbished and decorated the hotel is visually stunning. Everywhere is comfortable and clean with a beautiful dining room overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden. The evening meal was cooked to a very high standard with a great menu to choose from. We had a standard room with a very comfortable bed and lovely decor with a touch of luxury everywhere. We were very surprised to find the vintage radiator actually worked and kept the room very cosy and the view from our window was lovely. The staff were lovely and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The lovely owner spoke to us at dinner and told us a little about the hotel itself and her journey through the refurbishment and she is rightfully very proud of her achievement. Just excellent in every way.

What can I say about the Grey Harlings, it was a delight to stay here. The hotel is comfortable, lots of character and very relaxing. We found out that the hotel is run by a family. Linda and rest of the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the garden. The room was cozy, we had restful sleep. The area is very quiet. We went into town for a bite to eat and we had fish and chips. The breakfast the next day was brilliant (compliments to the chef). Hotel suitable for all, especially ideal for golfers being right at the golf course. Would recommend this place!!!

We normally stay in St Andrews when on a short break in the area. Carnoustie golf Hotel is more than a match for most St Andrews hotels. The town on the other hand is a long way short when it comes to restaurants and shops compared with St Andrews. If you are staying 1 or 2 nights then I would definitely recommend Carnoustie golf Hotel.

Room was perfect size for family, bathroom has leak beside shower causing mold /rotten wood. Room does get a lot of noise from business above. I was unaware I hadn't preordered breakfast as I received an email day before asking me what time slot i wished but when check in was told no breakfast available as more rooms than tables for breakfast available. Was offered 9.30am breakfast downstairs on first day but second day we were refused far from ideal for a family with children to be told to wait til 10am when public breakfast area opens! We actually had 3 rooms booked for 2 nights but only one room got breakfast stress free . Please consider making breakfast in your larger area rather than refusing families breakfast.

Edzell is a beautiful place to stay, most people were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was adequate and although quite small was nice and comfortable.the shower was not great and very poor and the toilet would not flush properly without having to refill the cistern. The auto lights in the very dark hall did not come on unless we walked way past our room so kind of pointless for us. The breakfast room is in need of soft music or something as all we could hear was other people eating with their mouths open, this was not enjoyable. The bar also is in need of some music in the evening anything really to give it some life.

Arbroath is a nice coastal town, good size for walking around all the main areas. Main shopping street a bit tired with lots of closed shops, but enough coffee, bars and restaurants. We used the Wetherspoons a few times which is always good value for money, and The Old Brewhouse at the harbour was a good sized hearty meal in small but nice restaurant/bar. The Signal Tower Museum is worth a visit for history on the Bell Rock Lighthouse. We walked the coastal path north, my husband walked about 11 miles to Lunan Bay, signposts were ok, but skirting around farms and small villages was long, but interesting. Montrose is also good for a visit, especially for bird watchers around the tidal basin and coastal rivers. All around is excellent area to explore and walk, we had good dry weather which is always a bonus.
