Very happy with our stay at the Cross Keys. The room was very nice; looks to have been refurbished not too long back, and the bathroom was quite spacious. We were made to feel welcome (including the dog) and the bar/ dining room are cosy with a good atmosphere. We were fortunate that our stay coincided with a musical event one evening, which was really good. The breakfast/ food was all fine and small touches like miniature milk bottles in the room were appreciated.

I loved the look of the hotel when we first walked in! Then, when we were introduced to our bedroom, I was in love! It was beautiful, and the bedding was incredible! We had a fabulous night sleep in your lovely hotel! The dinner was incredible. My chicken curry was one to have again if possible. The apple crisp was delectable.

Great atmosphere of an old country estate where you could feel like a lord for a day. Interior and architecture is amazing, very well preserved. The check in experience was seamless with extremely professional staff. The hotel room was a great size with an extremely comfortable bed and a large functional bathroom with a bath. The breakfast was excellent with a continent buffet and personal service for cooked options. Staff were very friendly and professional. We had drinks in the elegant bar that was very cosy on a cold, wet evening. The staff made it a personal experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. Close to town (we ate in town for dinner). Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful, well appointed property.

I have to say the staff. Especially two young ladies serving dinner and breakfast. One is still at school and one is heading to university soon. They were the most polite and thoughtful young ladies. They spoke beautifully and were watchful for anyone who was needing attention. They were not intrusive but were there when required. Thankyou for hiring excellent staff. This truely makes travel a wonderful experience. The building and furnishings were particularly beautiful and the room was very comfortable.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They always accommodated us and were very generous. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who stays in Galashiels. The rooms are neat, tidy, and well decorated. The Victorian style of building was very charming and beautiful. The location is amazing, private while being on the river tweed but also close to everything in Galashiels.

Kelso is an interesting town in its own right . Plenty of interesting shops , bars , and a square to add to the overall attraction . The Cream Chimneys cafe on the square is first class with interesting innovative dishes and advertises live music on weekend evenings . You would need to make a reservation for this . Nearby Floors Castle is worth a visit , and you can walk along the river which is easy to get to . Kelso would be a good base from which to visit other Border towns . There is plenty of streetside parking .

Small town to be enjoyed day or night beautifully set in the lowlands. Excellent, reliable bus and taxi services. Numerous supermarkets for choice in addition to many hosterlies. Eyemouth has a charm all of its own. The people I met were all very friendly and helpful, The "resident" seals were an added bonus, and getting to feed them was a real joy. You can get a really good Hot Kipper Roll at the same time, or any other seafood treat of choice. Lots of walking paths in and around surrounding areas. The Fish and Chip shop on the Quayside does really good food , and the Ice cream shop next to it is not to be missed. Would recommend for a short stay.

Our day there coincided with shops day off. But not many shops there anyway. We watched the cyclists on Tour of Britain cycling through and had a coffee. We returned to the hotel and visited the Bar for refreshment and a chat to both staff and customers. We had a really enjoyable dinner in the dining room, which has lots of Coldstream Guards memorabilia, all of which was interesting.

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly located to visit a myriad of interesting places, the most special being the Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. A must see, in my view even better than the Bayeux Tapestry. Melrose, Floors Castle, Peebles and many beautiful gardens are all nearby. Easy access to Edinburgh by road or train. 90 minutes to the wonderful Dumfries House.
