+Great, spacious room in high standard with comfortable bed. +Supportive and helpful staff. +The view wasn't the greatest, as the hotel on the other side was covering some part of lovely Cairngorms landscape, but overall, the location, the quality of the room was exceeding expectations. If I'll reach Aviemore once again, I will definitely book the place once again!

We had a perfect stay. The room was very nice: spacious and beautifully decorated. Big enough, very clean and the shower was really good. Everything worked perfectly. They do serve the best breakfast here! We have eaten the best porridge ever with really nice fruit. Very good for cyclists doing the LEJoG trial or any other trial. The coffee was also perfect and the owners are really helpful and they communicate so well.

The ease of arrival, and help in finding our way including with the Parking was a lovely way of being welcomed. The whole stay was very comfortable. The staff were faultless. Everywhere impeccable and lots of details (quality of soap and shampoos etc a nice surprise.) We would mention in particular Tracey who was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating in terms of our planning and change of mind to stay on. Dinner was five star - and we ate in the hotel the whole time it was so good. And that includes the extremely good value for breakfast which kept us going all day.. The managing team was very present and checking in on the customers which is always a big plus ! Great value for money. We will be back …

This was a perfect stay. I wish it was longer. Great location for what we needed. The staff and owners were incredibly friendly and knew a lot about the area. The home is well appointed but kept in a very traditional manner, very clean, and beds comfortable. The dinner we had was the best food we had while visiting Scotland. We will definitely be back.

Excellent site. The pod was perfect with a fridge, kettle and microwave. Site was immaculate. The toilet block and shower rooms were very well kept. There are loads of activities on and off site for families or individuals do do. We were sorry that we were only staying one night. This site is so good that a longer stay is warranted to see and do everything.

Great hotel, lovely, helpful and friendly staff, especially at the leisure desk. Relaxed atmosphere, child friendly, safe for kids to play. Lots going on in and around the hotel. I had imagined Aviemore to be an old town like Pitlochry and Dunkeld, but in fact all the buildings in the Main Street seem to be fairly new, apart from the railway station. It has lots of shops selling outdoor clothing, and is not very attractive architecturally.

We went to Ballater to be close to Balmoral Castle, where we went to an artisans market on the grounds. We were there in October, so opening of other parts of the castle were not available, due to royal residence use. I would return to this beautiful part of Scotland again if given the chance, to see more of the castle.

Kingussie is ideal for people who want beautiful walks or a bit of climbing or cycling. There’s a fantastic bike shop called Bothy Bikes where you can hire e- bikes to explore the area. The countryside in autumn was spectacular. There are lots of local walks to suit different levels of fitness. The Spey is nearby so iconic itself and for the whisky distilleries along its banks. Interesting local shops. Fresh local produce. Nice folk. Close enough for trips to the Moray Coast and Cairngorms. Golf, fishing, garden nurseries all in easy reach.

Boat of Garten is a small village which has some good features and services, including a pub, a village store, pizza shop, art gallery and historic railway station. It is well located in relation to forest walks and other outdoor activities. For any significant shopping you needs to travel nearby Aviemore, 4.5 miles away. We preferred the peace and quiet of Boat of Garten for our stay in the area.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!
