The hotel was excellent and the staff very efficient and obliging. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing. The food was very good. The breakfast was great, food, staff and dining room was extremely pleasant. I’d been wanting to stay at Shrigley for years and my stay exceeded my expectations. The room with the view overlooking the front was amazing and I particularly enjoyed and appreciated the original features and history of the building it has a real Downton Abbey feel to it. Thank you all 🤗🙏 Regards John Chappell

The front desk staff was simply outstanding and caring. I was in Chester because my wife became ill on a holiday tour and the closest hospital to us was in Chester. I stayed 5 nights with you while she recovered at the hospital. The staff made me feel welcome and that they sympathized with my situation.

The Dog and Partridge is near to the hotel. Bonus.

The Dog and Partridge is near to the hotel. Bonus. External appearance of Paddington Hotel could be so much improved by some simple gardening. Some easy jet-washing would improve the external walls and general appearance. My stay was a mere 'ok'. I just happened to be in Warrington that night. Customer service was adequate, but below average. My room was functional and everything worked. It gets an 'OK' from me, but I wouldn't take my better half there for all the tea in China!

I went to Crewe to see the local area. I visited Nantwich and Sandbach. Nantwich is a lovely small town, and Sandbach is a bit bigger, both lovely to visit. The Market in Nantwich is lovely to visit, and there are a couple of National Trust places we didn't have enough time to visit, but we will do next time.

There is quite a range of shops along the high street; the surrounding houses and streets are leafy and pleasant. I found a cafe for coffee / cake / light lunch and the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly. There is quite a lot of traffic which drives through. There are great activities though as I was visiting family I did not wish to pursue them - there seem to be bowls [on a crown green - not ten pin], golf, plenty of Churches. Quarry Bank Mill [NT] is close by.

Runcorn is beautiful and we came to visit relatives. But our stay at the hotel wasn’t worth it. It was old and needs overall revamping. Reception staff was nice but the room was so tiny with AC not working and bed was so uncomfortable. Wouldn’t stay at this property again.

Our second stay and we feel very relaxed and at home in the hotel. We booked 3 nights but then booked another night whilst we were there. The breakfast and bar food were excellent and we ate there every evening. Unfortunately we missed breakfast one morning and I wish the meal times had been available in our room as we had paid for two breakfasts. The hotel is very good value for our purpose, visiting our daughter.

The pictures on booking sites are totally misleading, they must be 10 years old. The place looks old, run down, smells bad, and feels dodgy. Poorly maintained room, dirty carpet, old furniture, unhelpful staff. I had a very poor experience. Upon arrival the carpet and floor were dirty, cobwebs in literally every corner and on walls. Dust on furniture. Linen was clean but no throws or blankets on the bed. Windows open at 8.30pm, cold room. Portable heater in the room luckily worked. Carpets on the corridors also looked dirty, cleaning is definitely not a daily routine here. The light switch next to my bed was not working so I had to walk to bed in pitch dark. Next morning I asked for the room to be cleaned, cobwebs be removed, coffee spoon/stick provided as there was none in the room. Upon returning in the evening, my key card was not working, had to go back to reception to have it reactivated. I found the room untouched, same dirty carpet, cobwebs, dust, no spoon. Toilet left filthy, no toilet brush provided to clean it with. No new toilet roll provided. Dirty teabags and coffee sachets from the morning untouched, cups unwashed. Only one litter bin emptied, not the other. All this after being assured by Reception that cleaning was done as requested. I walked back to Reception only to be told there’s no cleaners around at this hour and they have nothing to offer to solve my problem, I only got a ‘sorry’. The room was not cleaned once in the 3 days I stayed. Last morning when I left there was no one at Reception, you had to leave the keycard in a basket! Avoid this place, it is nothing as advertised. I have filed a complaint and asked for a refund. 3 days later no reply received.
