I had a wonderful stay! The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. My room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options to choose from. Not to mention the exceptional restaurant (listed in the Michelin Guide, which speaks for itself) and the beautiful Sunday roast I enjoyed. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Derbyshire!

The area was pretty nice, nothing fancy where we were but easy to walk around and safe reliable public transport. We were able to get loads of different foods bits from cafes to restaurants to takeaways and deals, all of which was reasonably priced. The Derbion was great with a variety in the food hall; a great cinema with a wide range of films and comfortable seats; and loads of shops to fulfill any shopping needs.

A trip into town is a must.

A trip into town is a must. We went on a Sunday so not all artisan shops were open in the town centre but some of the larger chain shops were and there was an amazing street food festival on so the place was buzzing. We parked at the retail park on the duel carriageway where all the large stores were open like Curry's, Next, Poundland, etc and then we walked across the road into town. Plenty of cafes open too.

We really enjoyed our visit to Matlock — a charming market town surrounded by stunning Peak District scenery. It has a lovely, welcoming feel with plenty to see and do, whether you’re wandering along the river, exploring nearby Chatsworth House, or browsing the independent local shops that give the town so much character. A special mention goes to the Ostello Lounge, which became one of our favourite spots during our stay. It has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and serves great food and drinks — perfect for brunch, coffee, or a casual evening meal. Matlock is a wonderful mix of natural beauty and local charm, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. We can’t wait to return!

Very pretty village even in bad weather. We ate at the Indian and the Woodyard - both excellent meals and highly recomended. We visited for the Christmas Market - the stalls were really expensive, though I suppose they always are. I would recommend going at another time when not so busy.

Ashbourne is a great location for visting the lower peak district. With other towns within a 30 minute drive, you can see quite a lot in a short space of time. Plenty of working located in the local area. The only downside this time was that they digging up the center of Ashbourne and this makes accessibility to the shops etc slightly more un sightly but will look amazing when finished.

Baslow is a perfect base for the peaks.

Baslow is a perfect base for the peaks. You have lots of amenities in the village, nice pubs, cafes and shops all within walking distance. Literally on chatsworth doorstep and all other peak attractions no more than a 10 to 15 minute drive in any direction. Main road quite busy but to be expected for a central location.
