Very nice accomodation with a busy restaurant (at evenings) but very tasty local cuisine. Our room was spacious, enough for a 2+2 family. The owner and all staff was very nice, there is a small "farm" with a children playground - appreciated. Breakfasts were nice and tasty.

1. The room was larger than I had expected. (I booked a single room). Although the room faced the street, I had no problems sleeping even with the window open. 2. A good breakfast menu offering a choice of dishes, using high quality ingredients. 3. A beer garden - the possibility to sit outside.

Our stay was amazing. We were in a room with a log fire, where the bed was comfy and it had all the amenities we would need to service ourselves. The host walked us through the details and told us about breakfast which was included. We had dinner at the restaurant in the Old Hall Inn and could not fault it. The service was great, the food was delicious and there was a band playing in the pub afterwards. The pub offered a range of drinks. They provided a birthday dessert for my partner too. They really went above and beyond! We had a quiet and comfortably sleep, and in the morning we had breakfast. The full English was incredible and really set us up for our Peak District walk. We took out a Garmin GPS with our hiking route preloaded, which made our hike easy, accessible and safe.

We were in Derby to spend time with our grandchildren and there was so much to do there with them. We had family day passes on the busses and they loved the double Deckers and going to the various playgrounds and fun parks. Every day we found a different place to have lunch and there are so many to choose from.

Gateway to the peak district and all that, yes, but Chesterfield has a lot to offer in its own right. Ive been before, I was here for work this time but I had time to root around. Come on a thursday when the flea market is on and make a long weekend of it. Look out for the fantastic Record Fairs, and two of the best independent record shops you could hope for. There are some great old pubs and The Spreadeagle is an excellent place to stay and eat. Do your homework, but turn up on spec and explore. You'll enjoy it. And there's Chatsworth up the road if that floats your boat.

We had an amazing three night stay - the weather was 30degC and more every single day. The staff at the hotel were absolutely spot on - really helpful, very friendly and happy to chat. The pool is amazing and it was great to see how popular it is. Great walking routes from the hotel as well and a good bus service - we dined in Matlock one night. Quite handy for Donington Park too. Small town, as a good base-location to walks to Mam tor (and back), the various Caverns (ticketed entry mostly), and the Cave Dale - a beautiful picturesque rocky trek with extremely steep slopes either side.
