Quite simply outstanding. I have stayed previously, many times, at the Hydro and the Grand - the Langham is by far superior in almost every category. The hotel itself is exceptionally well maintained given the age of the building itself. All of the public areas were comfortable and impeccably clean. Room #207 was wonderful - great views, windows that open, comfortable large bed [great linens], excellent recently refurbished bathroom with modern easy to use facilities and nice range of bathroom products. Excellent wi-fi throughout - well done. We enjoyed the food and the outstanding service - the F&B staff are excellent. We were lucky enough to meet the owner Neil who exemplifies the standard of his own hotel - charming, knowledgeable, thorough .... interested in his clients. The Langham has a customer for life!

I enjoy walking along the front and it is enjoyable whatever the weather. there are lots of cafes along the front so you can stop for refreshments whenever you like. The town is old fashioned but has a great choice of shopping and cafes etc. It is easily accessable by train or drive, I have used both. I would really recommend The Crown and Anchor, Bill's and The Belgian Cafe, which has great sea food. Beachy Head is a great walk but can be challenging depending on the weather. The Peir is a with various businesses on it, I reccomend The Victoria Cafe, food and coffee are great. A lovely place to go especially in inclimate weather, were you can sit and enjoy watching the sea in all it glory. The shopping streets are being improved at the moment and the shopping centre has a good range of stores. It has one of the friendliest Whetherspoons I have been in, it is always busy.

This was my second visit to Rye this year, but was well worth the effort to see the Rye Fawkes pageant with the Malcolm Saville Society. Lovely walks around Rye Harbour and from Appledore. Great food at Simply Italian on Sunday evening. Another climb to the top of St Mary the Virgin's tower on Monday morning in glorious sunshine to see the views before departing.

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

The spa was very well apportioned and it was very quiet and secluded. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant. One thing they must do in the restaurant is ensure that the wine ordered has arrived and ready to drink before the food is served. It is not good form to serve the food without the wine bottle even being at the table, let alone not opened.
