We were expecting a small hotel room and were surprised at the generous size and facilties of a very lovely, clean and comfortable room. There was plenty of storage and a small but very user friendly kitchen. We only stayed one night but would have been very happy there for a longer stay. The check in was professional and warm and we felt very welcome. The management/staff at the Fanny Talbot are to be commended on the standard of the accomodation and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if in the area.

Sygun Fawr Country House is a true gem. It's beautifully situated in the stunning Snowdonia National Park and boasts a lovely garden with several peaceful sitting areas. The road leading to the house is quite narrow, so drive carefully—but once your car is parked, it's an easy walk to the village. The house itself is very old but exceptionally well-maintained. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with plenty of information available both in the rooms and the common areas. The owners are very friendly and incredibly helpful. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but ended up extending to 4—it was that good!

Fabulous!!! We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful ancient farmhouse. Robin and his wife were lovely, both so welcoming. The breakfast on both mornings were absolutely delicious, with our evenings spent reading in front of the open fire after two long days of hiking in the beautiful countryside before sleeping in the most comfortable 4 poster bed. We couldn’t recommend this place enough, and plan to go back for another wonderful stay in the new year.

There was even a harpist entertaining in the evening! The whole place is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and there are lots of original art works around. The location is great and there’s lots of safe parking on site. The staff are helpful and friendly.

I paid a short visit to Barmouth in December, which is out of season. I would like to return to undertake the Parkrun along the promenade at some time in the future. Also, there are motorcycle races held on the beach in October/November each year, which I am sure would be very entertaining. I would like also to tour Snowdonia National Park, which lies to the north of Barmouth.

You can never have too long in Llanberis area!

You can never have too long in Llanberis area! The mountains & lakes are stunning, and there is so much else to explore too. Snowdonia has a magical quality to it that makes it so special. Llanberis is also a great base from which to explore outlying places e.g. during my trip, as well as completing my main goals of climbing Snowdon and Tryfan, I took daytrips from Llanberis to Caernarfon and Anglesey on one day and Llandudno & Conwy on the other, visiting castles, National Trust properties and beaches on teh way. The various driving routes to and from these places back to Llanberis were a joy in themselves. The nearby Pen-y-Gwryd hotel is so interesting, steeped in mountaineering / Everest history - although it was lovely to have the place almost to myself to look around, it is a shame it is not promoted a bit more as a place to visit for a cup of tea / place to stay.

With several heritage railways in close proximity and access by train, Porthmadog should be a must on any Train enthusiast ‘List of places to go’. My son has been talking about the FFestiniog railway (Rheilffyrdd FFestiniog ac Eryri) for many years. We were finally able to make the trek and we were excited to see it all. We could have spent 3-4 days going on the different excursions. Plan on getting into the Boston Lodge railway works for a tour there also.

Beddgelert is the perfect location for a long weekend getaway. The locals, without exception are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food and beer in the pubs is excellent. The views are stunning with the mountains and the walk along the river is a must do. For something more adventurous there is the walk up to the summit of Moel Hebog. We visited in December and it was still a busy destination for walkers without feeling bustling or crowded which was a bonus and it certainly provides peace and quiet in the perfect mountain setting. We left very happy and look forward to visiting again.
