The proprietors were wonderful to deal with over several plan changes. Meals (breakfast/dinner) were served in a wonderful "sun room," well prepared with good food options. It's only a block off the promenade (though up hill) and its convenient bus stop. They run both a "hotel" and "apartments" so there are numerous sleeping options.

FAQs about hotels on Isle of Man

Mystical and Enchanting

Steeped in Celtic history and myth, the Isle of Man is famous for its tailless cat and the TT motorbike race. The start line is in the capital Douglas, overlooked by hills. At its port arrive ferries from Ireland and England, and the town houses all Isle of Man hotels with swimming pools on Booking.com.

On the headland around the bay, Onchan has pretty cottages and glens, and Laxey to the north has a quaint harbour and the world’s largest working waterwheel. It is by the foothills of Snaefell mountain, as is coastal Ramsey, while Andreas is surrounded by sweeping fields.

More nature is in Tynwald Park & Arboretum near St Johns. The castle in nearby Peel was supposedly built by giants and is inhabited by a dog ghost. Santon has another Isle of Man legend - you must acknowledge the residents of the Fairy Bridge or beware!

Ballasalla is near Isle of Man Airport where there is a statue of the island’s 3-legged symbol. Neighbouring Castletown, with its pretty harbour and medieval castle, plays host to one of the more bizarre events – tin-bath racing.

By the south-western tip, Port Erin has a sandy beach protected by cliffs. Similarly to most other resorts, it offers Isle of Man hotels with parking, making it easy to explore by car.

Douglas is a very long Promenade and I chose to stay the furthest end of the Pier to the town centre but having a bus stop outside to take you to the other end was ideal at £1.20 a trip . There are horse trams outside too to take you into Town. The Gaiety Theatre is a must. A walk through the sunken gardens at the Sea Terminal end is not to be missed and the highlight is Summerhill Glen at night with a lovely walk through ..free of charge..and the illuminations through the Glen are Magical.

Nice tidy little town, old fashioned which gave it a cosy feel. Steam railway goes to Douglas & back. Good bus connections, cheaper than home too. There's a Tesco & Co-op, chippy, Chinese takeaway, & local shops. The Rushen museum & tourist information is good. Helpful friendly volunteers. Good beach for surfers & body boarders. A couple of surf shops to hire boards etc from. Three pubs, The Station, The Falcon & The Bay. The Station has good food, but generic beers. The Falcon wasn't as good & in the sister pub, The Riddler, the beer wasn't kept well. We found The Bay was the best for Busheys Ale. They have food, chicken wings, chips etc. Definitely the best Busheys. Well used with friendly bar staff & always a good craic. There's a monthly pub quiz, & during the season an outside stage for live music.

There isn't much to do in Ramsey in winter apart from a good choice of pubs but plenty of nice walks. Bus service to anywhere on the island is great we did a circular trip on three buses which took up most of one day stopping off in Peel and Douglas for a while.

Castletown had lots of back alleys, viewpoints and museums plus the local bus service stopped in the town square. There was quite a bit to watch with several motorbikes setting off and a pipe band there today. Castle Rushen dominates with a very pretty little harbour and several museums as well as the steam train leaving quite close by. It was very pretty and much more interesting than Douglas. We arrived by ferry and the bus journey was lovely from Douglas to Castletown. We flew out from Ronaldsway airport which was walking distance and has the best small military museums that I have ever been to. Can't rate the town highly enough.

Great location with easy links to explore the whole island from a quiet base. Loads of walking trails and history on your doorstep. Easy bus and MER links. About 4 miles from Snaefell. Friendly and helpful locals willing to help if they can. Must see the Great Laxey Wheel. We thought it was fantastic. Stayed on the IOM for 4 days and used the clean, frequent and punctual buses to get around.

Douglas was very nice, very clean, no litter, very little chewing gum on pavements. The people obviously take great pride in their island and they are very friendly and helpful. Great to have a travel pass so you can hop on and off all transport ie buses, electric trains, steam train and horse tram.
