Food was very good. Got the roast beef dinner and my fiancé got the pork belly. Decent price as well to boot. Breakfast was also very good with a continental appetizer and then a full breakfast. Toured the grounds after for a nice walk. Perfect distance to bamburgh and alnwick castles for a day out.

The blending of the old buildings with a modern upgrade has been tastefully made. The room was very clean, the large glass doors give light and a view of the castle walls. The staff were friendly, inclusive atmosphere, everyone speaks to each other, dogs welcome. Even the local cat stops customers for a pat. Food was good quality and well presented, varied menu.

Very welcoming and accepting at all levels in and around the town. Barter Books was a revelation, Castle and gardens are well worth the fees as are other close castles for the views and experience. 20minutes away are beaches with sheltered sandbanks, an absolute delight.

We have visited Berwick many times as it is only 40 minutes by train from our home. There are lots of interesting shops - antique and good book shops as well as good coffee shops and restaurants. Lovely walk around the walls of the town. It is quite hilly in some parts. Quayside is pleasant on a warm day. Amran’s Indian Restaurant (excellent food and service)

Great location for visiting many castles and beautiful gardens. Cragside is a must see location. Also Ford and Etal, especially the heavy horses. Bamburgh is very picturesque with a very peaceful church and amazing castle which is run very well and is great to visit, amazing views and fantastic sand dunes. Walled garden and cafe in the middle of Bamburgh is a lovely place to spend time with the Grace Darling museum next door there are also lovely small independent shops . All perfect for a needed break away. Thank you Bamburgh.

Great staff, excellent facilities and set in wonderful grounds, might be a bit isolated for some but for us it was an added bonus. Food was excellent, a buffet style breakfast but poached eggs cooked to order were brilliant and the one evening meal we ate in the restaurant did not disappoint. The spa area was immaculately clean and is well set out with a great steam room and more than adequate sauna, would have booked a treatment but our agenda did not allow. The main car park is some distance away and at the bottom of a steep hill, there is a drop off point and blue badge parking at the entrance but would advise booking this space if it is essential to you. All in all a great experience and likely to book again if we revisit the area.

Blyth is a small town with a few recognisable shops, but its biggest draw is its excellent public transport connections. The bus station is right in the centre of the town and has buses to places like Newcastle, Cramlington, Ashington and Morpeth, giving you more options for shopping and tourism. The new train station (Bebside) will be open in the near future, but there's another already in use at Newsham (just a tad south of Blyth) connecting Ashington with Newcastle Central Station.

We thoroughly enjoyed the harbour and the walk along the pier to the lighthouse; Warkworth Castle was exceptional, as was the village, too. We would highly recommend The Harbour Inn for accommodation (very central and welcoming) and for evening meals. Also the Boat House for a special fish evening meal: (book early though!) All the staff and local people were friendly

Wooler is the perfect base to explore so much of wonderful Northumberland. The Cheviot hills are on your doorstep, literally walking distance and it is very easy to get to the coast, Lindesfarne and many other places just 30 minutes drive away. A small market town with a high street packed with great shops, pubs, takeaways and cafes; we recommend the Terrace cafe for excellent all day breakfasts and great coffee . The town is particularly good for those who like browsing antique and bric a brac shops, there was even an Auction when we were there.
