I'm a Sheffield exile living in Wales, so probably a little biased, but Sheffield must be one of the greenest cities in England. There is a thriving arts and cultural scene and real ale pubs are everywhereGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lots to do - food good at Chakra Lounge and Simply Thai. Lovely buildings to visit - the Park, Theatre and Opera House brilliant. Close to Manchester with short train journey which we used to visit was an added bonus. Great for families and couples alike.Guest review byTrevorUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Gateway to the peak district and all that, yes, but...
Gateway to the peak district and all that, yes, but Chesterfield has a lot to offer in its own right. Ive been before, I was here for work this time but I had time to root around. Come on a thursday when the flea market is on and make a long weekend of it. Look out for the fantastic Record Fairs, and two of the best independent record shops you could hope for. There are some great old pubs and The Spreadeagle is an excellent place to stay and eat. Do your homework, but turn up on spec and explore. You'll enjoy it. And there's Chatsworth up the road if that floats your boat.Guest review byjohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We had an amazing three night stay - the weather was 30degC and more every single day. The staff at the hotel were absolutely spot on - really helpful, very friendly and happy to chat. The pool is amazing and it was great to see how popular it is. Great walking routes from the hotel as well and a good bus service - we dined in Matlock one night. Quite handy for Donington Park too. We went to wee the world superbikes on the Sunday. A perfect weekend.Guest review byJason HallUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Castle is in the centre of Bakewell so very convenient for exploring locally. Chatsworth House is only a few miles away and a great day out. As evening meals are served in the pub, guests can choose to eat in the welcoming atmosphere, but eating fish and chips on a seat by the river is just as romantic!Guest review byBarbaraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There are lots of wonderful walks, easy and more challenging ones, all with excellent views. We loved it and will go back to do all the walks it offers! I was surprised not to see more flowers on the front windows which makes these small towns so enchanting, but we had such a dry summer that it could be the reason for it. Otherwise it is a place we will return many more times.Guest review byCecíliaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Stockport´s location in a ravine with a Victorian viaduct towering overhead makes for a very unusual and intriguing town. Also most interesting are the timber frame houses one finds from Tudor times. Lots of pubs and not generic ones either.Guest review byDominic - 8.0

It's a nice Market Town - currently undergoing a major Town Centre renewal, so it should be very nice when it's finished in a few months (the renewal didn't distract from our stay). It is very well placed, short drives to some iconic Peak District walksGuest review byPaulUnited Kingdom
