Location was everything for myself and my husband. Absolutely stunning views and the seclusion from the rat race and being wrapped around mother nature felt therapeutic. Staff were very friendly. Callum was a great host. Looking forward to returning again soon 😀

The whole atmosphere was simply indescribably beautiful. The location is unique and overwhelming. All the staff was friendly and warm. And the chef would have deserved (at least) one Michelin star.

The helpfulness of the staff. The function we were attending changed the starting time at the last minute and we required an earlier check in time. This was sorted out with the minimum of fuss and when we checked in were greeted by a very friendly member of staff.

* The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a seamless experience on check-in (even though we arrived at the hotel at night time) & check-out, we were informed of everything we needed to know. * We stayed at the standard double room, which was perfectly comfortable and super spacious - apart from the bedroom and the bathroom, there was a sitting room. * We found the hotel gorgeous, with a nice vintage touch. The restaurant had spectacular views, there was a bar, a lounge, and a sitting area at the guests' disposal. * Parking was on-site and free of charge. * WiFi was okay, streaming was possible. * We loved the hotel's scenic location on top of a cliff, overlooking the village. It's also right there on a hiking trail, so we were able to plan that on our getaway. Great network coverage too, I was sharing data from my phone in order to work and the connection was very stable. * The food was excellent. The full breakfast was very filling; sides were offered, too. We also booked dinner on one evening and loved it, the salmon in particular tasted very fresh. * Dog-friendly :) we saw many pups in all areas of the hotel.

Stranraer suffered with the loss of the ferry terminal , like most towns the centre needs attention. empty shops and boarded up premises are bringing down almost all towns and cities across the UK and Stranraer is no exception.

Portpatrick is a tiny harbour village which is beautiful.

Portpatrick is a tiny harbour village which is beautiful. A few hotels to have food and drinks in with a beautiful sunset right in front of you between the tiny lighthouse and harbour. There is a couple of general stores too which are well stocked. Perfect place to sit back and relax in peace and quiet.

Whilst it is a very remote location and you are isolated from other places within walking distance, there is a costal path and tiny beaches to explore. We were staying for one night which was perfect, be mindful that there isn’t any other options for food eateries, the food at the hotel is lovely and prices for a 5 course meal super at £40, the main courses were a little high at approximately £18 and a little heavy if you just want a sandwich or a light bite for your evening meal, but fine dining wearing walking clothes was such a treat! breakfast was included and really hearty. The staff are super attentive and friendly, the hotel is clean and well looked after, very traditional setting and furniture so not a modern setting if that is what you are after. We wanted for nothing, everything was catered for, our room was upgraded to a larger room and was very traditional and comfortable. This is still a working lighthouse, which is incredible to sit and watch the lighthouse in action once the sun begins to set. There is also a upstairs terrace you can watch the sun set from (but no seating) and one of the rooms has a private terrace area (with seating). Really loved our stay and would highly recommend it, especially for the experience of staying at a remote lighthouse

What a fantastic location!

What a fantastic location! It was incredibly easy to stroll across the road in the early morning and enjoy the beach—whether walking the dog, fishing, crab hunting, kayaking, or simply skipping stones. The open-plan layout of the house was excellent. Even while preparing meals, I still felt connected to all the family activities. There was plenty of space for the kids to play and do their own thing. The birdlife was abundant, with shore birds visible from the front of the house and inland birds in the farmer’s field behind. It was a real treat for nature lovers. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also appreciated the wealth of local information provided—recommendations for shops, pubs, cafés, and sightseeing spots were spot on. We visited several of the suggested places and had a great experience. Communication regarding arrival and key collection was clear and seamless.

Dunragit is just basically a main road.

Dunragit is just basically a main road. No shops, pubs or restaurants. The nearest place for food is Portpatrick which has a beautiful harbour front but is also very busy. Fortunately each time we went we were able to find a parking spot. I’d always recommended booking a table. The postcode to the property took us up an awful, overgrown, narrow road. There’s a far better one the other side. So our sat nav took us on the A75 (from England) and turned us to the right, cross over a railway line and at the T junction to turn right. Instead, turn left here and then first right. A far better road to access the farm. At the farm there’s a wooden fence surrounding an area of green grass, turn to the left (just after that area) and on your right you’ll see an opening through the wall which you drive through and the COO Shed is the property directly opposite with the half glazed doorway into it to the left which is next to the opening of your private hot tub.

It is a small village.

It is a small village. It is an excellent location to visit the Mull of Galloway lighthouse which has a cheap tour . It is the most southerly point in Scotland. There are also nice beaches and an RSPB site at the lighthouse The Logan gardens are also close to this area. We saw a snow goose. This is only the second Snow goose I have seen in Scotland. The locals said it appears on a regular basis

Port Logan is a very peaceful and lovely place to stay or come for a walk on the beach. Having base in Port Logan in a mid Feb we discovered that there aren’t many places opened yet but still we had a walk outside of impressive Castle Kennedy gardens, the Glanwhen gardens were open with honesty box or pay online and they were peaceful with plenty to see on plentiful winding paths. On weekend the Logan Botanical gardens were opened too and what a great place to see some rare in UK trees and bushes. The Logan Fish pond was fascinating to learn about both how it was created and about all the fish species living there now. Then there are numerous coastal walks with wonderful views nearby and beautiful beaches for a stroll or picnic. In the North Rhins there is a Wig bay and apart from interesting historical aspect we were gobsmacked with amount of interesting shells to find and with the variety of sea birds.

Stranraer is an interesting place to visit. Parts of it have got very run down but you can see they are trying to improve the town. We spent a lovey day following the Town Centre trail we got from the Tourist Office.
