FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From US$148.45 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 374 reviewsJust wow! The nicest BnB I've stayed in. From the minute we were welcomed at the door we felt like honoured guests. Graham showed us the beautiful rooms, all so large and airy and all individually decorated with Karen's eye for colour and style. Karen is also a talented cook. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and beautifully presented. The guest lounge is a lovely place to chat to fellow guests and the gardens are lovely. The couple grow some of their own fruit and veg. It was lovely to wander around. In the morning Graham had printed out a detailed map of a scenic route to our next destination. Great waterfalls...thanks Graham.Guest review byLisaSpain

The place was so peaceful, clean, and perfect for relaxation. The hospitality was outstanding — we truly felt welcomed. There was also a food truck nearby serving halal burgers, which were incredibly delicious! The jacuzzi was a great touch; the water was hot and ready at all times. Breakfast was a bit limited, but everything we tried was fresh and very tasty. Highly recommended for a calm and cozy getaway!Guest review byBushraSaudi Arabia

Fabulous city, easy going , feels safe and friendly even late on a Saturday night. Eden Court Theatre , great venue saw the Budapest Cafe Orchestra there who were brilliant entertertainers. Lovely River Walk along tbe Ness. Beautiful Botanic Gardens with great cafe. The Glen Mhor Distillery and Brewery was a great place to chill out and listen to live music. Great beer and whiskey too, taster platters were amazing. The Jamaican restaurant called Kool Runnings served up a fab goat curry and a very much appreciated Mojito 👌Guest review byDiana - 8.0

Been a few times to Aberdeen as this is where our son lives. Plenty variety of eating places and pubs etc . We were there one night as we were there for a specific show at the time in the Aberdeen Music Hall. Downside is the amount of beggars and homeless people in the city centre.Guest review byBobUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Oban is our place to catch a ferry to the islands and where we land on return. It is a busy town, the harbour and Dunollie being our chief interest the short time we are there, watching the ferries and other vessels sailing off or returning to harbour is always a pleasure. As such it always has an air of excitement about it, the anticipation of a ferry journey amongst and to beautiful islands. Therefore it is always a pleasure to be in Oban.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It's a bit like a time warp! Scottish architecture at its finest, with a stunning sea backdrop and rolling hills. Then, there's a load of hip students roaming the streets! A city of history and culture was my thought.Guest review byDohertyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aviemore is obviously a town built around tourism, and so is fairly expensive, and not particularly historic. But it has all the necessary facilities, with a good choice of bars and restaurants, and its in a great location to explore the Cairngorms.Guest review byrussjacoUnited Kingdom
