Exceptionally friendly and helpful receptionist (Michaelis) who welcomed us on a rainy night with a big smile and helped to carry our luggage to the 1st floor:). The apartment is very smartly and tastefully designed with a functional kitchenette hidden in a cupboard in the living room. It is equipped with all you might need to make a simple meal like scrambled eggs for breakfast. There are even proper wine glasses which is not always the case in apart hotels. A Nespresso coffee machine with some complimentary coffee pods and even a proper (liquid) creamer were a surprise and a nice touch! Everything looks brand new - the facilities, towels & bed linen. The apartment was spotlessly clean. Perfect, quiet location, within walking distance to the center of Heraklion, bars & restaurants. Free parking opposite the building is a real bonus in that busy town! The price per night in March was excellent value for money. It's a fantastic place if you want to go on a city break to enjoy the nice restaurants and bars in town, that are open all year round. We were able to leave our car in the hotel car park for a few hours longer after we checked out, which was great and convenient. We'll definitely be back:)!

This hotel totally exceed my expectations, the room was incredible, pretty modern and comfortable. Breakfast is super complete, different options and everything was delicious. Location is the best, 2 min away from a lot of places. Going to the ferry port is pretty easy from this place. I would definitely stay again.

We had such a wonderful week at Soho Blue Hotel in Crete! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and there are two pools outside (one for the kids ) with sunshine by the poolside the whole day. The location couldn’t have been better: right next to the main street, but still peaceful and quiet. We also really appreciated the private parking, which made things easy with our rental car. Breakfast was tasty and varied enough throughout the week so it never got boring. But what truly made our stay special was the owner, Kiriakos – such a kind and welcoming host. We left with great memories and would happily return. Highly recommend! 💙

Everything! The property is amazing: beautifully designed and executed in a stunning setting. Our room with a private pool was excellent. The hosts, Olivier and Giannis, were fantastic - and having breakfast and the optional dinner done by Giannis felt like having a private chef! The place was absolutely stunning. My wife and I booked this place for our honeymoon, and that did not disappoint in any way. Everything from the location, to the people owning the place everything was perfect. Really modern and very luxurious place which was a few meters away from the beautiful water. The rooms were beautiful and very nice, everything was clean and worked. We were very happy with our own private pool and terrace, which was cleaned every day! The owners of this place is a very lovely and warm family, who makes sure every need you ask them are met! They are happy to talk, give you a good place to visit or even ask if there is anything that they could help with. They also have a family restaurant, which is very classy and has various dishes where you can enjoy your meal right by the ocean. And we were also welcomed warmly by the restaurant! Overall 10/10 experience, I would definitely suggest this place if you are looking for a private stay, where all your needs are met. Where rooms are equipped with everything you need.

I spent a few days. A very clear room, the staff from my - you are excellent. One lady from reception - from the bottom of my heart thank you. The view from restaurant is amazing. I take my breakfast every morning on the balcony with the sun in my face. The option for breakfast are for everyone. From meat, fruits, vegetables and a big variety of tea. Please see the pictures. From my balcony see every day the history, the see, the sun and normal life was very good.

Every thing. We used all the things the hotel had to offer and every thing was enjoyable. The hotel is very clean, and the crew are all wonderful. All facilities are as new and well treated. Great place for a vacation with children. There is everything you need and even more. Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable beds, great choice of food. And of course the water park and the sea. We will definitely come back again.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

The hotel complex is well laid out.

The hotel complex is well laid out. Although set in a hill there are plenty of lifts if you don't like using stairs. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Bathrooms are modern and clean. It's a great place to just relax by the pool by the bar or on your balcony. It's north facing so full sun in the morning. There is a good gym and a beauty spa. The evening entertainment is varied and of a good standard. A lot of the shows are held in an open air ampitheatre ideal for a summers evening. There is a regular bus run by the hotel down to the local beach which is helpful as the road down is steep and narrow. The restaurant is excellent. The choice and quality of food is outstanding and delicious. The staff are helpful and always have a smile on their faces. If you like an all inclusive holiday where you can laze around be active then this is highly recommended.

Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location...

Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location to explore some of the surrounding areas. The old town provides amazing Cretan restaurants, pretty much all good, and some, like the Avli, Getonia, Sokaki, and Brassierie are excellent. Book a table if there in the busy season. There are local palace ruins which are well worth a visit and easy to get to on the happy train, which is also an experience on its own and does various trips up to the hills as well around town and locally. If there for while definitely book some trips out on a boat, as the sea is just deliciously clean and refreshing, and if feeling adventurous take a boat to Spinalonga and have a wander among the old leper colony. If you can get up in the hills, a visit to Lasithi Plato and make sure you stop off at the restaurant Taksiarhos - where all the food is home made by Joanna, the wife of Taksiarhos who owns this place - it is a complete treat to meet both of them as have a truly authentic Cretan meal and experience. And once the cave is back open (hopefully in 2026) visit Zeus' birth place just a little further up the hill. But of course, the weather is just fab here so do enjoy the sun be it on a beach or by a pool!

Of course if you are looking for the crystal clear water, Matala is not the one, even though the surronding landscape is something beautiful. Nights in Matala can't be boring. There is always something to do and have fun. It is defenitley worth a visit.

A quiet area, but the beach close by is not the best (still ok if you wanna just refresh a bit) and you need the car if you want to see and explore more (even in the surroundings). There are buses, though, to move to/from major points of interest. The location I chose (Kri-Kri Village) was perfect and I had the best time! Extremely relaxing, chill vibe and you can reach great beaches not far. Suggested!

We stayed at Kato Gouves which is slightly out of Gouves. There are some lovely restaurants and taverna's. We've been many times and like to walk to the beach at Analipsi where there is plenty space.

Lovely resort with loads of different bars, restaurants and tavernas to suit everyone. Not rowdy or loud. Beaches are good with some places offering free sunbeds. Plenty of different hotels to choose from. A trip up the mountain to Mochos is recommended on a Wednesday night for Greek night. It’s in a square surrounded by tavernas for all to enjoy the entertainment. It’s recommended you get someone to book a table in one of the tavernas as it’s very busy. We got a taxi up it took about 15 mins and was 15 euros.

Karteros is a convenient location, especially because it’s close to the airport. The beach has some organized areas with sunbeds, but it gets very busy during the summer peak season, particularly on Sundays when many locals also head to the beaches. The sunbeds tend to get taken quickly, so if you miss out, you can still relax on the sand—but bringing your own umbrella is a good idea for some shade.
