The Jewel of the Aegean
Known for its fine white marble used in many ancient sculptures, the beautiful island of Paros is a popular tourist destination with golden sandy beaches, charming fishing villages and archaeological sites.
White houses, blue sky and picturesque alleys characterise Parikia, the capital of Paros. Guests staying there can enjoy lively nightlife, excellent accommodation and fine local food. Built during the 4th century by St. Helen or Constantine the Great, the imposing church of Ekatontapyliani (the Church of 100 Doors) is the oldest in Greece.
Located in the north-eastern corner of the island, the small town of Naousa is an ideal place to savour fresh fish and admire the authentic old fisherman’s houses. The nearby beach of Kolimbithres is very impressive thanks to its small sandy coves and transparent, blue waters.
Overlooking the sea, the mountainous village of Lefkes is situated amid hills with old windmills. You will love the traditional small taverns, pristine alleyways and neoclassical buildings of this small village.

Our room was just perfect. No frills but everything that you needed including a lovely balcony overlooking the sea and beach. The food was amazing, again simple and perfectly GFreek. But the highlight was the the super frewindly staff, Anastacia on the front desk, Petro the driveer and odd-job man and Laura an the other Anastacia in the restaureant. It's one of the main port areas. Easy to get around to other destination. We used the public transport.. the local bus was just perfect.. takes you all along the island, just should now where you want to go and if confused the bus depo has a small kiosk with all information. A useful tip you can purchase a 10 euro pass pp, applicable for the whole day, just hop on and hop off the bus at various locations and see at your pace. We loved spending 6 nights in Paros. We rented a car. It was stick shift. A tad scary for me. But it was doable. Paros has great beach clubs. My daughters booked horse riding one day and then walked to the nearby town. After we met at a great beach club, we had lots of great dinners and sunsets. Fabulous shops. We drove to Leifros one day. We like Paros best. Taxis were outside the hotel. Also there was a transport office two doors up that arranged rides to beach club for us and picked us up. A beautiful location. 4 main restaurants by the marina plus a Japanese restaurant. We tried them all. and all were great. The couple of cafes there were great too for breakfast and lunch. Also for drinks. Remezzo even did Sangria which i couldn't find anywhere else! We walked down to cactus beach and had a sun lounger which was quite expensive 50 Euros. We had lunch at Cactus and that was great. Near cactus on the hill is a restaurant called Mango, please visit everything is freshly made even the ice cream. The town is really nice.
The town is really nice. It has a little of everything you would need for a getaway on a Greek island. The grocery store is nearby, public transit terminal is located here so access to the rest of the island is possible and easy. There are a number of little restaurants, cafes and shops you can look through and enjoy. I wish we had more time to spend and walk through the town but the time we spent was great. There is a small park by the bus stop if you have kids and want to entertain them for a bit. This is a beautiful area, though quiet and with limited dining options. Great beach (Golden beach) with good service and reasonable prices. For a relaxed stay without lots of tourists, this is a good place. You will have to take a bus ride (1 hour) or drive from the main port in Paros to get to this less visited part of the island. I wouldn't recommend Paroikia and generally Paros to a couple or a family or to anyone who wants to relax, or is not extremely wealthy, or really young to care about anything. Everything was - not just - expensive, but overpriced. The things to do, food, drinks and beaches are mediocre. The island is fully packed with teenagers that just take space and make noise and if you want to avoid them you have to overpay for it. Many places were not giving receipts, other places were charging more and did not admit it, exploiting tourists every way possible, because the demand is huge and they don't care. Very bad service almost everywhere. Very bad food except if you pay more than 50 per person... otherwise garbage or toilet. You wanna go for instagram feed, go to Mykonos or Santorini for almost the same price. You wanna relax, go to other not popular islands or Peloponese.
