BoliviaThe host was really responsive and attentive to our well-being. He made our arrival from Belize really smooth. The place is great. Not only a lost hotel but also a lost paradise. The room was really spacious and comfortable. The common shower has hot water. The food at the restaurant is DELICIOUS (bread is amazing, the sandwiches are gigantic 🤤)! Dinner time was the occasion to share with the nice people staying there. Thank you to all the ladies who were cooking with love!
The receptionist never failed to answer our questions, help us and give suggestions about our stay.
There are a lot of activities you can do (tours and getting a kayak in order to visit hot springs, natural sauna, waterfall). Also, my girlfriend loved the 1-hour massage. Staying at least three full days would allow you to see and do much.

Hotel and its restaurant is beautiful, food was well done, too, and they got a nice beer selection. The whole hotel feels like an oasis in the middle of Livingston. And the staff is great, especially Carlos made us feel at home, and everyone was super helpful.
Bring a bit of time when eating here, they're not the fastest, but the food is worth it.

GermanyLa Isla Dulce is the best accommodation we've ever stayed at. It lacked nothing! Everything was built with such attention to detail. The food was delicious (very good quality!!), our room was a dream and the couple Darja & Douglas and the other staff were as warm and helpful as you rarely see. We had the best shower here and everything was clean and comfortable. Our stay was the perfect end to an incredibly wonderful trip. We would have loved to stay longer, as it felt like a spa retreat. Thank you for everything!

It is located Santo Tomas de castile, easy to take a taxi ( 30 GTQ ) or chicken bus( 3GTQ) from puerto Barrios center. Recommend to take couple days to chill out. There is walkable to beach and waterfall.

the location is exceptional, only a good 10 minutes by boat from the town of Rio Dulche, the price includes incoming and outgoing boat transportation, accommodation in beautiful bungalows that are connected to each other and to the main building by wooden bridges on stilts, clean rooms and sanitary facilities, warm water, magical in the middle of the jungle, on the river with its own jetty, canoes available, a restaurant that offers great food at a good price, at a low price the ability to take a boat into town, accessibility of services e.g. ticket and boat to Livingston, friendliness and helpfulness of the owner Jonatan

Everything :) especially the atmosphere, the hosts and the volunteers were extremely helpful and friendly! The beds were Confy, watching the sunrise from the bedroom and the stars from the trampoline just amazing. The owner Ismael did not stop to help us with our Belice day trip. (it was amazing) Thank you :)
So anyone who wants to volunteer long or shortterm in a familiar atmosphere :this is your place :) would have loved to do that!

Excellent wooden cabin room, very cozy and comfortable, enough space and amenities.
Location is fantastic and feels very much like part of the jungle. There's even a crocodile in the creek flowing through the finca and joining Rio Dulce. The hotel has its own landing and you can do a great boat trip down to Livingston or up to the lake. Very reasonable price for a great lodging experience. Stayed an extra night!

Pool was refreshing- needs a paint but I believe this is about to happen.
Room was simple but comfortable. Good shower with hot water. Beds were very comfy.
Lovely calm atmosphere. Restaurant and pool look out over the river. Dinner at restaurant was a bit pricey but good quality.
Feels safe with a security gate and a long driveway off the main road.

I loved the horse-riding and the swimming pool. The sunsets from the beach were stunning.
The reception staff were very caring & helpful with my onward journey.

The best reason for staying here is the manager, Giovanni. He is a bilingual jewel. Great with arranging trips up the Rio Dulce but even more describing the history of the area.

Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing.
Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing. If you want more night life...then probably best to stay in Livingston. If you are ever in Livingston, the best Tapado was at a small restaurant Restaurante Gabby!! Unforgettable!! El Viajero didn't come close in flavor, maybe we just went on a bad day. Must see Siete Altares, beautiful waterfalls and blue turquoise water. We never felt unsafe, it's a very tranquil place in Rio Dulce.

Loved Livibgston.
Loved Livibgston. It has a very chilled and relaxed vibe that's very different to the rest of Guatemala. The locals are so warm and welcoming. We ate at local restaurants and sometimes local drummers came in and played which was great.very easy to get around. If you don't want to walk there's always a tuk tuk near by for only 50Q a person. The area is great for walking along the coast, kayaking, and enjoying different cultures.

If you travel solo you can't do anything as it's just for groups else yours are in excess of £250! It's not safe to hike to seven altars alone (I was told by locals) so it's just very far for no reason. The bus from GC was supposed to be 5 hours but it was 11!

It should be a tourist hot spot in Guatemala. Unfortunately the beaches are covered in trash. I wouldn’t recommend a visit to Livingston unless you’re passing through. If you happen to have some time in Livingston I recommend a trip to Playa Blanca and Siete Altares. The lancha to Playa Blanca only gives you an hour in Siete Altares so we went back the next day. Just take a tuktuk to the bridge and walk. It’s a great place to swim in cool fresh water in the jungle.

Unfortunately, I was there during the rainy season - day and night - rain. I would have stayed longer, but everything I had was damp or wet. Hostel is easily walkable from the lancha dock. Or you can take a tuc tuc for 10Q
