My inspiration bubbles from my curiosity and love of travel. I observe the world around me, look for new perspectives and get inspired by the unspoken truths and important insights I discover. It is a constant process of discovery and experimentation that brings my designs to life. When I visited Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, I was literally enchanted by the beauty of Istria and the inspiring atmosphere of Cap Aureo Signature Restaurant under the direction of Zelijko Lozancic and JJV, at Lurel & Berry Restaurant especially under the direction of Andreija Jelavic, and at Viva Eufemia Lobby Bar by Lovro Brozd. Always a smile and a kind word on the lips a young chambermaid from Asia. The mixture of breathtaking nature, cultural diversity and culinary delights makes Rovinj a true paradise of inspiration for me.

Our experience in Lone Hotel was excellent. The location is fantastic: with the private beach right in front of the hotel, nice green walking areas accessible almost directly from the hotel and the city centre at 10mins walking through the beautiful port. Our dog also loved it, as it is a real pet-friendly hotel with very good room and balcony size. Great service as well from all the employees and amazing food in all their restaurants. 100% recommended :)

FAQs about hotels in Istria

Land of History, Sun and Wine

The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.

Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.

The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.

Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.

Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.

Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

The town was perfect size so walking is easy for everyone. Please note the cobbled streets can be a little slippery so fancy high heeled shoes are a No-No! The local people are kind and friendly and everyone is catered for. Little tip:- book restaurants early to avoid disappointment not obtaining a reservation.

Post season Umag seems like a cozy small town. I expected more but then maybe my expectations were set too high considering its a popular destination for locals. Although I only stayed there for one night, I can't provide a comprehensive report but we did manage to walk around the city and resort complex. The location seems ideal for an activities holiday destination with a lot of parks and paths for walking/hiking, bike riding, etc.
