We visited Gangtok during the Christmas week. Booked this hotel through Booking.com. I'll note the Pros and cons for easy understanding. Pros: 1. Mr. Amrit, the manager, is a lovely person, going out of his way to manage the stays. He even helped procure some medicine for my kid pretty late at night. So thank you very much again. 2. I reached Gangtok a day before my scheduled arrival, but they were accommodating enough and gave us a much larger room at the same price! 3. The hotel is bang on the main road, so no problem in accessing cabs/buses from here. Also it's just a few mins walk from M.G. Marg & Laal Market, which is the main tourist spot in Gangtok. 4. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. 5. The top floor rooms have a great view of the valley OR the main road (mine was a road facing one with a side view of the mountain). 6. The food, though VEG ONLY, was delicious and room service was prompt. 7. The rooftop restaurant has a great view of the valley. The warmth and hospitality of the local people were truly exceptional. I was particularly struck when a local student explained that even though their native language is Nepali, they make a conscious effort to speak Hindi to ensure outsiders feel at ease. Namchi is the heart of South Sikkim.
Namchi is the heart of South Sikkim. The Char Dham, Samdruptse, Temi Tea Garden, and Buddha Park, Ravangla are an absolute delight. I would also recommend hiking in Tedong Hilltop if you really like adventure and nature. Usually, people book packages that make them stay in Pelling. Phadamchen 9 lower zuluk 0 where this hotel ( bikers den 0 we booked is far far better than Zuluk ( as its very crowded and dirty place with shabby small home stays ) .
