The warm and friendly host, Stefani, explained all about the farm/ranch and even took us to meet Varenne, italy’s most famous champion harness racer who is now retired from racing and lives on the property. The apartment was very comfortable with two bedrooms upstairs and a full kitchenette and great room downstairs. It was very clean and well maintained. The breakfasts were AMAZING!! Complete with fresh eggs from the ranch hens and Stefano’s fabulous home baked Cantucci!! Forget about your diets while staying here! Pretty little town!
Pretty little town! The center has beautiful places to see and the show museum is a must go! I recommend stay close to the old town center as possible. The only thing that I was surprised was: don't expected to have lunch downtown, because they close the restaurants for lunch and open again after 18.30/19.00 for dinner. Some caffee houses are open during lunch time. Vigevano is a sweet little town and I ll definitely come back! P.s. Don't expected to get a taxi easy there. Best to rent a car. We went here as a short stopover before driving to Portofino the next day (as the windy roads to Portofino does not make for suitable conditions late night driving). Honestly, it was a quick couple hours here for us as there were only limited things to see. If you like interesting old churches and a lively town centre Pavia is a great place to visit for a couple of days. About 5 miles out of town is an amazing monastery complex. You can get there by bus or train but these methods required too much walking in the intense heat so we took taxis. Well worth a visit. Pavia has wonderful medieval churches and a big museum at the Castello. The tomb of St. Augustine is amazing, and is a favorite stopping point of Pope Leo XIV. Boethius is also buried in Pavia. The city still keeps traditional Mediterranean hours (2-2 1/2-hour break midday), so it takes a day or two longer to see all the sites. We found good restaurants and would happily have stayed longer. It is said that April-May are the best months to visit, and it was already hot (80 degrees) at the end of May.Guest review byDaleUnited States
