A wonderful stay in Catania! A really lovely hotel right in the city center and also conveniently close to the airport. The staff is very kind and always smiling, from the reception to the lady at breakfast. The breakfast is very good, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. We had a wonderful stay at Taormina Garden Hotel. Federica at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. Angelo, who served our breakfast and handled our check-out, was fantastic — the breakfast was very good, and drinking espresso prepared by Angelo was a real pleasure. We also enjoyed a lovely and friendly conversation with him. We spent a beautiful night at the hotel. The hotel is amazing, very close to the sea, and has a well-maintained garden filled with a variety of plants and trees. There are also sun loungers available for relaxing and sunbathing. The availability of parking is another big plus.We highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Swift check in. Upgrade of the room from garden to sea views! Good breakfast, served buffet style with many options and great views from the terrace. The pool area is great, we love dit there. Not so busy in the morning, so it's a good time to arrive and enjoy it. The afternoons tends to be quite busy with guests and difficult to get a long closer to the pool. Nice that the guests aren't allowed to reserve the lounges or placed the towels on them and disappear-a very good rule for the resort. The pool towels were provided in the room. There eis also lovely beach area, with umbrellas and lounges, drinks served too. It was better to visit in the morning as in the afternoon there was no sun. If arriving by a car, there is a guests parking provided at 27 EUR per day. Hotel offers complementary shuttle to Taormina centre, but its better to pre book it at the reception as they tend to fill up quickly. Great pool service with drinks and super friendly staff. We had lunch and dinner at Le Grand Bleu restaurant-food is really good! Service tends to be slower and less attentive, but not too bad. Room was great with comfy beds, very clean, large bathroom and closet. We loved the balcony with a view of the bay and Etna.

This is my second time at this resort. It is so peaceful, surrounded by trees. Beach is amazingly beautiful. Pools- you are spoilt for choice. The animation team is great!!!We had a soft spot for Tommaso, he was so humble and kind and funny ...but truly all of them were great 😁 The staff at the pool bar were always gentle and professional too. Perfect place if you want to relax, especially with kids. Kids clubs are amazing, however kids need to know Italian, as most of the team are Italian speaking only.

2 days in Catania were just enough, unless you start visiting the places around the town. The city is very interesting , from the history point of view, but unfortunately most of its beautiful architecture is in a dire need of renovation+ streets are dirty - almost everywhere. Tour guides and stuff in restaurants are very nice, just be prepared that their 10 minutes is about 3 times longer than on your clock or more:-)

Syracusa is fascinating. Ancient civilizations have left their mark everywhere. Ortigia is very nice. Go there! I'd have spent at least another day or two since there is lots to see in and around the city. So, history, great food, lovely architecture, natural beauty...much more. just go!

It's great to explore for a day or two but it's definitely touristy and full of overpriced shops. For my vibe I would have preferred to have spent my days lodging in Castelmola and then along Etna -- I'm more of a small town-vibe traveler and I enjoy getting to know and spending time with the locals.

Valley of the Temples was a great experience.

Valley of the Temples was a great experience. Traffic is crazy for the size of the city. Finding parking was an adventure. You better have a gps to figure out the streets in Agrigento. When we found a place to eat, we couldn't find a parking spot. A plus for Agrigento is its location overlooking the Valley of the Temples and surrounding area and sea view.

Great location to visit with amazing views over the city and water. I went both up the hill/mountain to an old fort and to the Faro Torre beach which was amazing. The food was great. The city was a lot of hills if you don`t mind the light cardio you are good.

Beautiful city constructed on a hill top. Most likely the most well kept from the baroque belt of towns. Great restaurants with affordable prices and if you really wanna splurge there are chances for that too. Easy access from the city to the beach towns: 25 min max to the Marina di Ragusa and Punta Secca. Definitely an experience for a more sophisticated traveller.

Trapani centre and old town was beautiful.

Trapani centre and old town was beautiful. We walked everywhere with ease. We used it as a base for day trips to Favignana and Erice. Felt very safe walking around at night. Beautiful views from the old town of the bay and Erice at night.

We travelled out of season and greatly enjoyed engaging with people in a relaxed way - and our Italian was always tolerated and even welcomed! Cefalu has some great restaurants even in December (we loved Galleria, La Brace, and Madraliska). We rented a car and explored some of the towns in the Madonie park - we particularly liked Castelbuono - and we enjoyed the various Christmas activities - processions, dances, and the general spirit of the town. This was our fifth (and longest, at two weeks) out-of-season visit to Cefalu, and we're planning on making that six in March. All in all, probably our favourite place to stay in Sicilia (this was our fifteenth visit, our other venues being Ortigia and Sciacca.).

Modica is a very old town on South-east Sicily, quite important for her history and baroque architecture. Getting around is easy, if you like to walk a lot! There are a lot of stairs and climbings to get to Modica Alta, but it's worth. Food is very good and there are still restaurants with good prices. From Modica you can reach the beach in half an hour by car, and you can also visit several good natural spots (like Riserva Naturale di Pantalica, Cavagrande, Vendicari) just driving one/two hours. Good craftwork as well, especially ceramics.
