We booked Cosmea last minute as the accommodation we were originally staying in had a very noisy and uncomfortable bed! We were absolutely delighted to move to Cosmea. The welcome was so kind and helpful, the room was really big and comfortable with a beautiful balcony. Location is fantastic. I would stay again without a doubt.

Location is perfect with a nice feeling of both village life and a mountain resort - it's in the middle between cable cars and a very lovely town center in a short walk distance. Alpine cows, good nearby restaurants, one of the best views, plenty of parking. Hotel is very well maintained, it is really felt that owners are involved 100% and do it with love for many years and you will get all of their attention. Considering to return next year with friends and our families, rooms are very convenient having both hotel and apartment advantages.

Family run hotel with careful attention to detail. Plenty of facilities for children and very practical with next door access to lift station and hire of equipment. Wonderful views. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Lovely bar area with extensive cosy seating. Service of the hotel management impeccable including retrieving an item we'd left behind in a restaurant in another village. Nothing was too much trouble. Boot room etc warm, comfortable with service bench for skis. Sauna area clean and well thought out. Happy staff. Breakfast extensive with good choices and quiet attentive table service. The hotel was definitely the best part of a great skiing trip. The suite was spacious, we enjoyed the private sauna in the balcony every day. Getting into a hot steamy sauna after a day of skiing and watching the snow tractors leaving to fix the slopes while the last late skiers are rushing back home, enjoying the view in the balcony with a glass of beer - that is a feeling second to none. Hotel is well located, close to the center, right besides a blue slope that leads to/fom Campinoi cable car.

Dream Valley of the Dolomites

Situated between 1,250 and 1,550 metres above sea level, Val Gardena is part of the South Tyrol region of Italy. The Gardena River runs alongside it, surrounded by the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Populated by a Latin-speaking majority, its fabric mixes Austrian and Italian traditions.

Sasso Lungo Mountain (3,181 metres) is probably one of the most iconic symbols of the valley, while the Puez-Odle Natural Park also includes some of the highest peaks of the valley. A large part of Val Gardena hotels are in Selva, precisely because the town is located between the Sasso Lungo and the Park. Ortisei and Santa Cristina are the other 2 towns in the valley.

Val Gardena is also celebrated for the quality of its handcraftsmanship, particularly for the woodcarvers specialised in religious statuary. Nonetheless, it counts with beautiful refuges and restaurants located in the mountains, offering delicious meals accompanied with breath-taking views.

But it’s during winter that the valley offers its most renowned side: Val Gardena’s ski facilities are some of the best of Europe. The very fast Saslong World Cup track or the Sella Ronda are legendary.

Angelo Engel was our favourite hotel out of all of the places we stayed during our honeymoon. The entire place has incredible charm, having been kept in and managed by the same family for 4 generations. We only spent 3 nights there, but the staff knew us and made us feel very welcome. The buffet breakfast was truly exceptional - with an array of different jams and honeys, cold cuts, breads, and hot offerings - and some of the best filter coffee I have ever had. Dinner was equally as impressive, with 5 courses on the menu, excellent service, and assigned seating; the whole affair made us feel very special. Facilities are excellent, with a very relaxing sauna and spa area to be enjoyed and a large heated pool.

Fantastic location in the centre of Ortisei. The staff are brilliant, friendly, kind and extremely helpful. They go above and beyond to assist you. The breakfasts in the morning have a great selection and the dining room has a beautiful atmosphere. We were full until evening. It’s walking distance to lovely restaurants , shops and different lifts to the mountains. If you stay here you get free tennis, ice skating plus use of a nearby hotel and sauna. We went to the local tennis club two nights and had so much fun in the courts. It was a lovely extra

Hotel Hell is a perfect location with ski in and out via a bunny hill that connects to main gondola. Just 2 blocks to center of town. But far enough from town center to be quiet. Room was huge, with view of slopes and town. Very nice spa area, ski locker room, and large lobby. In house restaurant is very good. Staff friendly, helpful....clearly love their job.

Everything was wonderful!

Everything was wonderful! Super clean, safe and close to attractions we took part in. A great place to hike from, to see the sites and to just sit back and enjoy the beauty all around! Getting to the location was easy...just recommend going slowly around the many turns to get up to the area you're headed....all worth it! We went up the mountain in the gondola and could hike around up there. We also ate lunch at the top and the food was great! Highly recommend! Several local shops were fun to go into. This area has a lot of great hiking available for novice to expert hikers.

This is further to my previous review on Garni Rives. I gave the hotel a review that reflects my honest opinion, mainly about the manager/host of the hotel. Obviously my review was not received with warmth from the hotel manager. He messaged me immediately via Whatsapp and blamed me being not polite to him, I have no idea where does this come from. I believe he has broken the golden rule of being in me the hospitality industry, if he cannot accept honest reviews, how can he improve to thrive on? The hotel itself is OK and the only problem I have is the steep climb (not the hotel's fault) and mainly the manager's manner.

Enjoyed every moment starting from great accommodation at LaTambra , easiest and perfect ski rental at Fistoll ski rental. Bus transfers free with accommodation. The only concern is to get to Santa Cristina from Innsbruck was not as convinient, used clever transfer and this company is not as reliable ( changed departure time last moment and there were no option to contact them)

The town had everything we wanted in terms of services and...

The town had everything we wanted in terms of services and places to visit were all in close proximity of one another. We ate at the hotel on the main street as well as a pizzeria a few doors down from our place. The pizza was the best there. We enjoyed the hikes and mountain biking and shopping in town.

Because of the two gondolas accessible in town, we were able to explore both sides and experience a variety of terrain, none extremely challenging which worked for our various fitness levels. The views are stupendous and the convenience of the huts along the trails for lunch, a drink or even a break from the rain were fantastic. We didn't need to worry about packing snacks or lunches, and instead enjoyed reasonably priced, delicious meals along our hikes.

Very accessible by road, well set out town with great local buses run frequently service, travel card included with most accommodation. Good range of places to eat. Well stocked Spar supermarket. Amazing views.

For those who may not know, Val Gardena is comprised of...

For those who may not know, Val Gardena is comprised of three distinct areas; Selva, Ortisei and Santa Cristina. My advice on where to stay is to try and figure out which mountain ranges you plan on hitting. That said, all three locations are very close together, and you can access them all within ten minute on the same bus. Personally, I would stick to Selva or Ortisei simply because of their access to vastly different mountain areas. Santa Cristina is snuggled between the two and didn't have as much to offer, IMO.

A lovely town in the valley with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants but also gave easy access up into the mountains via cable car/funicular. Also easy to get the bus to St Christina and Selva for other cables cars and walks. The Val Gardena mountains are simply stunning with plenty of great walking accessible from Ortesei

We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house!

We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house! Great location – very close to the cable cars that take you to Seceda and Monte Pana in the beautiful Dolomites. The area is peaceful and scenic, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were very kind, welcomed us with gifts, and gave us great tips on what to see and do nearby. The house had everything we needed: brand-new beds, super comfortable mattresses, and the host kindly provided lower pillows upon request. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the ground floor – although the weather was rainy, it was always warm inside thanks to the heating. A perfect place for both active holidays and peaceful rest – highly recommended!
