We loved the location, came off the shinkansen and walked a couple minutes to our hotel. You cannot get any closer to Hakata Station and the pachinko parlor was literally on the first floor. Our rooms were spacious and had a good view. Our favorite bakery was steps away. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the station as well as connecting anywhere by bus, train or taxi. The staff were amazing and the setting of the place was very beautiful. The city is a bit more worn down then I remember from prior trips. Lots of good places have closed or changed into different businesses. The construction is also more frequent around the main station. The food is still just as good as ever and there are still hidden gems if you explore some of the less traveled areas. This is a small town but perfect for conference or a few day escape from routine trip. Some attractions like shrines, few hiking trails and a railway museum are around.
