Stayed here for 6 nights for a ski holiday and we had to change room half way through as I booked late and they were fully booked. Lovely staff they moved our stuff to the new room which meant we could go out for the day to enjoy skiing. Location isn't in the centre of town which wasn't a problem. There is a shuttle bus to the ski resorts, if you don't have a car. We did have a car which made it really easy. Onsen was lovely after a full day's of skiing. There was a ski rental shop opposite the hotel which was convent. We had breakfast and dinner included one of the waitresses called June was super friendly and very welcoming. Was a joy to see her everyday.

Very friendly. Probably in the category of basic accommodation but don’t let this deter you. Room and beds comfortable and we had a little ensuite. Extra bathrooms available. Towels and bedding all fresh. Asian breakfast served with as much tea and coffee as you like and starts early in time to catch the first lifts. About a 5 minute walk Escal Plaza from where you can ski the first 2 valleys Goryu and Hakuba 47. Travelling further up the valley isn’t a problem as you are the first pick up. You need the V2!! Actually it is a coach and there is a timetable in the parking lot. Getting back you need to check the times as many skiers wish to travel back through the valley as the ski day ends. Opposite the Plaza there is a great creperie and don’t miss the family run restaurant with blue flashing fairy lights also opposite and 2 along from the creperie. We ate tasty Japanese with GREAT family service every evening. Open 5 til 9 but also lunch times. An escape from the commercialisation of the main building. You can buy lift passes daily if you ski different resorts. Check you may get a deposit back! If you don’t have s valley pass bus costs 800 each way to other resorts. Glide Inn has ski storage and the staff will go out of their way to help you negotiate the travel system! Great location and value for money at the same time. We used Rhythmn in Happo One for ski hire and they transport you. There is Central Sports on doorstep but you may need to book.

The location is great - quiet at night but also within walking distance of bars, restaurants and Happo-One ski field. Big secure dry room for all your ski gear. Shuttle bus on demand was awesome, taking us to 2 different ski fields, or to the local supermarket, bus station, bag shipping place etc. All the staff were super nice. Breakfast was different each morning and was pretty good albeit a bit small on some days. The sliding doors within the suite meant it was almost like a 2 bed apartment when closed. Kitchen was good for cooking. USB chargers in the rooms. Communal area was cool, with its relaxing chairs and pool table. Super fast wifi.

We had lots of helpful communication from Tetsu before leaving Australia about how to travel from Haneda to Hakuba. The cottage was very cozy and clean. The beds were comfy. The location was great as we could walk into Echoland main street in 5 mins to bus stops for skiing and restaurants/ rental shops etc. Reception was super helpful and friendly if we needed any information/taxi booking for the onsen spa etc.

Exceptional location, 20 meters from lifts. Away from the pubs and tourists frenzy of Happo but easily within reach if that’s what you’re after. World’s best Onsen facilities, awesome smorgasbord breakfast and dinner. Guest locker facilities are perfect and MYO lunch pizzas with beers is a must. Rooms are older and simple but clean with everything you need. It’s not advertised as a 5 star penthouse establishment it’s a functional, practical, clean, comfortable hotel. Enough English to easily get by but still predominantly and thankfully Japanese. During my 12 day visit we had 4 meters of fresh snow and as I left anther 4 days of 60+cm fresh powder started. Tree runs are absolute world class attracting many away from European/Canadian/USA resorts. Unfortunately this hidden gem won’t remain hidden for much longer!! Move fast!!! See you next year, I’m doing 3 weeks.

This hotel is much better than the photos shown in booking.com, especially the onsen, the photos shown in booking.com needed to be updated, to show the nice and clean onsen. The dinner and breakfast provided by the hotel, is the best Japanese meals my family ever had, It's very delicious and fresh, we enjoyed and finished everything in our plates. The onsen is not big but very nice, it has 2 onsen - one outdoor and one indoor, both are very warm and fantastic feel, especially after ski.

Very spacious, 3 x bathrooms, large lounge room. has front porch. drying room. Heated floors were great, never needed the aircon in Winter. Aya the manager was incredible, deserves 6 stars, managed our daily transfers to ski area and restaurant and even back to Matsumoto station. If I had a business in Japan, I would pay her more and take her to my company. She organised and delivered a birthday cake for my nephew.

The room was wonderful with a great view of the surrounding area. It was conveniently close to the ski lifts, and had a nice bath area. Because of our booking we had to change rooms between nights, and the staff was amazing at accommodating that in a way that didn't detract from our skiing. The ski storage area and drying room were very handy for ease of our vacation.

Loved our stay at El Mayo the couple who run to place are both legends. The shuttle bus is so handy and they do their best to take care of all the guests even when we came back from the slopes with injuries, they had handy little medical heating patches which was highly appreciated. They also went out of their way to check on everyone after the earthquake 🙂

Anise Gardens is well located for access to the Shionomichi trail. All 4 of us are 70+, so we’re not so keen on long multi-day treks. However, by staying several days in one place, we were able to use train into & out of Hakuba and wait for THE best day to take the gondola & chairlifts up to the Mountain where we walked in fresh snow & saw Happo-Ike reflections at their very best.

We stayed near Tsugaike Kogen. It's a nice small town. The main drawback is that there is very limited affordable (i.e 1000 to 2000 yen per person) dining options and no supermarket. We had to drive down to echoland for dinner.

I love this location. you can get everywhere without a car because there are many shuttles, taxis, and buses. the hotel staff will drive you for free at this place. also you can walk to some nearby places if it is not too cold for you. make sure you bring waterproof shoes and cold weather socks and clothes. renting snowboard gear can be cheaper than bringing your own.

The location was great with great scenery.

The location was great with great scenery. Ten minutes walk through snow trails to Happoone ski lift. Ten minutes walk to village for rentals & restaurants (Ooyokuri restaurant*****)! The staff was excellent and accommodating of late evening arrival. Inside & outside onsens were very good. Breakfast was great with selection & taste. Twelve (7adults, 1teen, 5children) give it a big thumbs up! It was end of season, so shops and restaurants were closed, snow was a bit slushy for me, good for kids. Plus side few people, no congestion or lines.
